Flamengo was crowned champion this Saturday (7) in the Carioca Basketball Championship. Mais Querido's coach, Gustavo de Conti, commented on the level of competitiveness of the competition and Rubro Negro's first title in the 2023/24 season.
“The most important thing about the state is that Flamengo is always there, regardless of team. good and bad, competing and respecting, that's why it became this power. I think that the state, due to the level of play, doesn't have many parameters because they are practically amateur teams. But we were able to see some details, like the running on the court, team organization…”, said the coach.
Flamengo strengthened itself in all positions at FlaBasquete. Rubro Negro failed to win titles last season, and they promise that they will compete with everyone possible this season. The Pride of the Nation coach also commented on the signing of Hungarian center Marko Filipovity, who was Carioca's top scorer with 32 points. Gustavo revealed that he had been monitoring the player for a long time.
“We monitor a lot of players, not only in Brazil, but in Europe as well. I watch a lot of games in Europe, I had already seen him play, so he caught my attention in the Italian League, he spent two seasons there. Then he went to Spain, it didn't go so well, but we followed him. He is a dynamic player, European style, a guy who doesn't stop on the court, very intense”, he revealed.
It is worth remembering that the state competition did not feature the presence of Vasco and Botafogo, which is why the championship was played in a triangular format, with just three teams. Gustavo de Conti also commented on the absence of teams that set up professional teams this season to compete in the NBB.
“Seeing from the outside, we don't think it's cool, but everyone has their own reasons, we can't judge so much. I don't understand much about this policy between federation and clubs. For me, it's the first time I've seen this happen, a team that has a professional team and doesn't play, but they certainly have their reasons”, he concluded.

This past Tuesday (17), Felipe Motta announced his departure from Flamengo through his social networks, after one season. Now, the athlete will defend Rubro-Negro's rival, Botafogo in NBB 2024/25.
Felipe was revealed as an athlete with great potential. The young man played for the Brazilian National Team's youth teams, went through the NBA Global Academy, the North American league's development program, and played for Fortaleza before arriving at Rubro-Negro last season. He was champion of the Super 8 Cup and was part of the runner-up in the NBB.
However, Felipe only had a few minutes on the court per game and very discreet numbers. The winger played 5 minutes on average per game and had the following statistics: 1.3 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists. The young man had more opportunities in LNb 2024 and did well in the fourth place campaign, but both parties reached an agreement and ended the relationship.
