In the intense heat of Maracanãzinho, Flamengo consolidated its position among the four best teams in Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) in a heated clash against Cerrado. In an environment marked by sweat and setbacks in the court's air conditioning, the Hungarian Filipovity stood out as the fundamental protagonist who led the red and black to yet another expressive victory, ending the match with a convincing score of 89 to 71.
The game started with Cerrado, representing Brasília, demonstrating efficiency by alternating baskets in a balanced way with the red-black team. This dynamic irritated Flamengo's coach, who promptly requested the first timeout in the match. However, the consistent performance of Didi and Filipovity allowed the red and black team to close the first quarter ahead, holding a small advantage on the scoreboard.
In the second quarter, the intensity of the heat in the gym affected both teams, resulting in a reduction in the use of shots. Gui Santos, from Cerrado, proved to be the most efficient player, while Filipovity's regularity allowed Flamengo to manage their advantage, taking them to the locker room with a comfortable lead. The return of the break saw both teams recovering their good shooting performance. Cerrado presented an excellent performance in three-point shots, reducing the deficit on the scoreboard.
Flamengo, in turn, counted on points from Gabriel Jaú and Filipovity to maintain their lead, preparing the ground for the decisive fourth. In the fourth quarter, the effort exerted by Cerrado to react in the third quarter resulted in significant physical exhaustion, allowing Flamengo to punish the Brasilia team's defense. With outstanding contributions from Gabriel Jaú, Maique and Martin Cuello, Flamengo achieved a more comfortable victory, consolidating its position among the NBB leaders this season.

The clash will be broadcast on Sportv, promising more emotions and decisive moves for basketball fans. The red and black team seeks to maintain its prominent position in the competition, remaining firm in the race for the NBB title.

FlaBasquete, the current Champions League Americas champion, begins its quest for a third world championship this Thursday (18). With titles won in 2014 and 2022, the red-black team arrives at the 2025/26 season with the clear objective of repeating the feat in Singapore and consolidating itself as a global basketball powerhouse.

Among the reinforcements are Daniel Onwenu (formerly of Corinthians), Argentine Franco Baralle (formerly of Pinheiros), Wesley Castro, and Eric Buckner . With experience and versatility, Bost arrives to be a leader in decisive moments . Despite the departures of key players like Franco Balbi and Gallizzi, expectations are high for the team's performance at the World Cup.
