The Flamengo will finally separate the sponsorship contracts and partnership with BRB, as has been attempted since the first renewal with the bank, in the middle of last year. The club's Marketing Department is racing against time to sign and vote on the Deliberative Council's three new agreements before March 31, when Flamengo's current contract with BRB expires.
Flamengo and BRB signed a three-year contract in 2020 that provided the red-black brand for the creation of the virtual bank Nação BRB Fla. The partnership provided that Flamengo would receive at least R$32 million annually, plus 50% of Nação BRB's profit that exceeded this amount. Despite the success of the partnership, with the opening of more than 3 million accounts, this amount was never exceeded and Flamengo only received the fixed amount. Although officially it was not a sponsorship contract, the agreement also provided for the display of the BRB brand on the chest of Flamengo's shirt, in addition to other prerogatives granted to the so-called “master sponsor”.

At the beginning of 2023, Flamengo and BRB obtained authorization from the Central Bank to create a new bank, which would separate Nação BRB Fla from BRB. Flamengo's intention is to profit from the sale of its stake in this bank. Thus, when it renewed for the first time with BRB, in the middle of last year, the contract was for just six months on the grounds that the shorter partnership would be to finalize the separation of sponsorship and partnership contracts. However, the negotiations were not concluded and the Deliberative Council voted at the beginning of this year for a new renewal of the joint contract, but now for three months.
The difference is that, with Pixbet's superior proposal for the master sponsorship, the BRB sponsorship was moved to the shoulders of the shirt. The new sponsorship contract keeps the BRB brand on its shoulders until December 2025. MRN was unable to confirm the values, but Flamengo Marketing's target for the property is R$25 million annually – BRB has already paid R$6 .2 million for the contract until March.
The contract for the establishment of the Nação BRB Fla bank has a longer period, the definition of which is still one of the points that led to the contract not being signed. A third contract regulates Flamengo's use of BRB banking services. Since 2020, the club has maintained an account with BRB and is obliged to give preference to the bank when seeking loans. Although the club currently does not have any bank loans, the situation could soon change if it decides to finance the construction of its stadium on its own.
Flamengo awaits payment of R$24 million from Internacional for Thiago Maia and is studying legal measures to resolve the issue
|
Internacional has not yet made the payment of R$24 million for the purchase of Thiago Maia, who was traded to Flamengo in July 2024. Given the delay, Rubro-Negro is looking for alternatives to guarantee the receipt of the amount, including possible legal measures.
The president of the Rio Grande do Sul club, Alessandro Barcelos, commented on the situation and acknowledged the debt, but highlighted the financial difficulties faced by the Colorado. “Flamengo is within its rights. Just like Internacional has its creditors, those who owe the club. We are always dealing with the situation in the best possible way”, he stated.
INTERNATIONAL ALLEGED FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES TO JUSTIFY DELAY
In his speech, Barcelos mentioned that the Rio Grande do Sul club is looking for a solution for the payment and stated that the situation does not match Internacional's conduct. "It is not Internacional's style to keep this commitment open, but these are exceptional situations. We are looking for a solution," explained the director.
The president of Colorado also mentioned that the exposure of debts in Brazilian football could involve several teams. “Now, the exposure of creditors, if we were to do this in Brazilian football, all clubs would have some demand”, he concluded.
NEGOTIATION BETWEEN FLAMENGO AND INTERNACIONAL WAS CLOSED IN 2024
Thiago Maia's sale to Internacional was completed in July 2024 for 4 million euros (R$24.1 million at the exchange rate at the time). However, the full payment has not yet been made, which has generated dissatisfaction at Mais Querido.
In an attempt to settle the debt, Internacional sought to transfer the player to Santos at the beginning of the season. The São Paulo club would assume responsibility for the payment, but the terms presented were not accepted by Flamengo .
Rubro-Negro demanded that Santos present bank guarantees or make the payment in cash, which did not happen. Thus, the deal was suspended, and Thiago Maia remained at the disposal of Colorado.
FLAMENGO X INTERNATIONAL FOR THE BRAZILIAN LEAGUE
The midfielder continues to play for the Rio Grande do Sul club and will even be on the field in the match against Mengão this Saturday (29), at 9 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, for the first round of the Brazilian Championship.
Entity determines that episode with three fans in 2023 classic did not constitute incitement to hatred and archives the case

The Barcelona Public Prosecutor's Office has decided to shelve the racism complaint against Vini Jr , referring to the classic played in October 2023, at the Montjuïc Stadium. The Hate Crimes Prosecutor's Office concluded that it was not possible to identify the words said by the three fans under investigation and that the insults did not constitute incitement to hatred, since they did not generate a "herd effect" among those present nor did they result in the suspension of the match. The decision, reported by the "EFE" agency, indicated that the elements analyzed were not sufficient to constitute a hate crime against the Brazilian player.
Despite the filing in the criminal sphere, the Public Prosecutor's Office suggested that the case be forwarded to the Office of Equal Treatment and Non-Discrimination, in case disciplinary proceedings are opened against those involved.
The investigations included footage from the stadium's cameras and the testimony of a witness who claimed to have seen racist abuse directed at Vini Jr. Among the three fans under investigation, one is a minor. During their testimony, the other two suspects denied having made racist chants against the athlete.
LALIGA AND REAL MADRID FOLLOWED THE INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE CASE
Barcelona's Hate Crimes Prosecutor's Office led the investigation in partnership with LaLiga and Real Madrid. The Spanish league's governing body has adopted stricter measures to combat racist behavior in stadiums, including direct reporting to authorities and harsh punishments for clubs and fans involved in such cases.
VINI JR PREPARES FOR CLASSIC AGAINST ARGENTINA IN THE QUALIFYING ROUNDS
While the case in Spain is coming to an end, Vini Jr remains focused on the Brazilian national team. The striker is focused on the match between Brazil and Argentina, valid for the 14th round of the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The match takes place this Tuesday (25), at 9 pm (Brasília time), at the Más Monumental Stadium, in Buenos Aires. The duel will be broadcast live on TV Globo (open TV) and SporTV (closed TV).
Mengão will carry out a reformulation of the membership program and the sale of tickets for all of the club's home games should be postponed
|
Flamengo is finalizing the adjustments to launch its new fan membership program, which will be accompanied by the reactivation of the Maracanã Package . In view of doubts about the continuity of advance ticket sales for the club's home games, Ricardo Hinrichsen , vice president of Marketing , clarified the issue in WhatsApp groups with advisors.
The director assured that the Maracanã Package will be maintained, but explained that the launch depends on the debut of the new fan membership program , which will undergo several changes. According to Hinrichsen, these changes will also impact the ticket package.
" The Maracanã package will be launched at the same time as the launch of the new ST program , in less than 3 weeks. It would not be possible to launch it before the adjustments that will be made to the new program", stated Ricardo Hinrichsen.
Postponement and reformulation of the Nation
Initially, the sale of the package was scheduled to begin on December 10, 2024 , but was suspended due to the club's elections. With the victory of Luiz Eduardo Baptista in the Flamengo elections, the reformulation of the member-fan program became part of the changes implemented by the new management.
Last season, ticket prices for the Maracanã Package ranged from R$6,125.43 to R$36,588.25 , considering the full- price, half-price and discounts for members. The expectation is that the new launch will bring an update in prices .
During the Deliberative Council meeting, last Thursday (20), the president stated that the objective of these changes is to solve problems and make Flamengo 's program the best in Brazil . The launch forecast was established between March 25 and April 10 , which confirms the deadline mentioned by Ricardo Hinrichsen.
