Flamengo and Corinthians have a meeting scheduled this Saturday (07), at the Neo Química Arena. The teams measure forces in the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship, experiencing similar situations, regarding technical command and focus on the season.

Both teams are experiencing several problems regarding coaches. In 2023, Flamengo already had two commanders – Vítor Pereira and Jorge Sampaoli – and is now looking to hire a replacement, with Tite being the current name. In the midst of this, Mário Jorge is at the head of the team, a situation that repeats itself for the second time this year.

At Corinthians, the scenario is similar. In the current season, the São Paulo team has already signed Cuca, Vanderlei Luxemburgo and, now, Mano Menezes. In the midst of this, Fernando Lázaro, assistant to the club's permanent technical committee, had to take command of the team while the change of coaches took place.

The only distinction between Flamengo and Corinthians in relation to coaches is that the The Parque São Jorge team has already appointed Mano Menezes as team commander, following the recent dismissal of Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Rubro-Negro from Rio, on the other hand, ended its relationship with Jorge Sampaoli, and is still looking for a replacement for the Argentine. As said, Tite is the 'hotshot', having advanced negotiations with the Rio club.

Another point that 'brings together' Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo residents is the main focus on the season. This is because both only have the Brazilian Championship to think about, after the stumbles in the other competitions played this year. The difference, however, occurs in the distance and intentions of the teams in the tournament. While Flamengo occupies fifth place in the table, with 43 points, and aims to return to the G-4, Corinthians is in 13th place, with 30, and seeks to move away from the relegation zone.

In amidst similarities, Corinthians x Flamengo takes place this Saturday (07), at 9pm (Brasília time), at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo. The match will be valid for the 26th round of the Brasileirão.

Last Tuesday, the candidate for re-election for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, denied the journalist Ancelmo Gois, from Globo. In a post on Instagram, the mayor informed that the city hall will be responsible for removing the megastructure on the gas meter site, different from what was reported. Furthermore, he guaranteed that Flamengo will have its new stadium, with the best conditions and security.

The news published by Ancelmo informs that Flamengo would have to pay R$100 million to remove a large gas structure present on land acquired by the club, which is owned by CEG and CEG-Rio, which are companies that are part of the gas concessionaire Naturgy.

According to the article, the companies were informed that Flamengo is the responsible for bearing the expenses, as provided for in one of the annexes to the land purchase and transfer contract. The clause, however, does not have a specified limit.

Eduardo Paes guarantees that the removal is the responsibility of Rio's city hall.

Paes stated that the values for the transfer of the structure are different from what was pointed out in the article by Ancelmo Gois. Furthermore, it exempted Flamengo from any responsibility, and that the city hall has been planning to remove it for years.

“They are making me defend @flamengo more than I would like: let it be clear that this is not the The cost of this transfer and when it happens will be the responsibility of the city of Rio, which knows that this structure cannot be in an area that is already receiving so many residential buildings. It's been in our plans for a long time! Flamengo will have its new stadium there in the gasometer with all the quality and safety that the region demands and deserves. Period!”, published the mayor.

The defeat of Flamengo 2-1 to Corinthians featured a bad performance, it's true, but also a match in the style of against everything and against everyone. In Itaquera, Flamengo faced some off-field factors that harmed the match. The referee's summary shows some of these problems, such as the attitudes of the ball boys at Neo Química Arena.

Judge Ramon Abatti Abel reported that he had to expel a ball boy in the 46th minute of the second when he noticed that he was emptying one of the balls of the match to hinder the progress of the game, hindering the restart and Mengo's search for the equalizing goal.

“I inform you that in the 46th minute of the second half, I expelled ball boy Alessandro da Silva from the field of play, for delaying the restart of the game, deflating the ball that was in his possession”, writes Ramon Abatti Abel.

But this was not the only case. Another ball boy expulsion had already taken place in the 25th minute, due to the delay in replacing the ball, seeking to disrupt the game and prevent Flamengo from growing in the match.

“I inform you that in the 25th minute of the second half, I expelled ball boy Thiago Mastrochirico Rezetti from the field of play, for delaying the restart of the game, taking too long to return the ball to the opposing team”, he adds.

Fans from Corinthians did not return balls to the field

Another factor reported in Ramon Abatti Abel's summary involved the Corinthians fans. In games, it is common for some balls to reach the fans, but they need to be returned, which usually happens. But there were two Corinthians fans who didn't return the balls.

There were two balls kicked into the stands that didn't return to the field of play. In addition, two other balls returned, but also deflated.

“I also inform you that two balls kicked towards the home crowd did not return to the field of play. These balls were not returned to the game. Two other balls returned to the playing field, deflated, they were also not put back into play”, he adds.
