Flamengo signed Léo Ortiz, De La Cruz and Matías Viña at transfer window that closed on Thursday (07). With the three reinforcements, Mais Querido spent R$158.022 million and led the ranking of Brazilian clubs that spent the most in 2024.

Currently, Flamengo is the leader of the ranking, ahead of Botafogo and Corinthians , which are in second and third positions, respectively. Alvinegro from Rio de Janeiro spent R$131 million, while the São Paulo team used R$130 million to hire reinforcements.

1st Flamengo – R$158 million

2nd Botafogo – R$ 131 million

3rd Corinthians – R$ 130 million

4th Vasco – R$ 120 million

5th Palmeiras – R$ 90 million

Currently, only De La Cruz and Matías Viña have debuted in the Flamengo shirt this season. This is because Léo Ortiz arrived at Rubro-Negro on Tuesday (06) to introduce himself to Mais Querido, after long negotiations with Red Bull Bragantino.

Léo Ortiz, in fact, is linked by Flamengo to the duel with Fluminense, this Saturday (09). The athlete participated in Red Bull Bragantino's first games at the beginning of the season and is therefore in good physical condition. The player will start the match on the bench.

Speculated as a possible reinforcement of Flamengo to fill the gap left by Pedro, striker Anthony Martial is free on the market, but has not played since December 9, 2023. On that occasion, Manchester United, his former club, entered the field to face Bournemouth and lost 3-0 in the Premier League. Martial was a starter and played for 56 minutes.

At the beginning of the year, the French striker suffered a groin injury that required surgery. Therefore, he was away for around 42 days, only returning in March. Even though there were three months left on his contract, Manchester United chose to let go of the player. Since then, Martial has been evaluating his next club and Flamengo is paying attention to his movements.

Just like Flamengo, Anthony Martial suffered from injuries in 2023/24. The star had several physical problems that kept him away from the field for a total of 60 days. Due to muscle pain, the player was not available for United in 12 matches last season.

Status of the deal between Flamengo and Anthony Martial

If the If Flamengo is really interested in the Frenchman, they will have to race against time and agree on the signing by Monday (9). Registration for free players is closing. According to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, who works at the Gianluca Dimarzio portal, the deal could come to fruition soon.

Offered to Flamengo by his staff, Martial also had a drop in his personal numbers. In the 2022/23 season, the player scored six goals and provided two assists in the Premier League. In 2023/24, it was just one goal and no pass that resulted in the ball in the opponents' net.

After speeches by the president of Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim, the owner of SAF do Botafogo, John Textor, the Rubro-Negro leader continues to retort. In August, Landim pointed to black and white spending and called for financial fair play in Brazil. Textor gave an interview responding to the manager and, this Thursday (5), made a post on Instagram comparing amounts spent by the teams.

The owner of Botafogo used a post from “Portal Botafoguense”, on Instagram, in which it compares the amounts spent by Flamengo and its club in each sector.
