Flamengo remains firm in planning for the 2024 season, with the expectation of a full calendar and challenges in various competitions. With the arrival of José Boto as the main person responsible for football, the club is close to announcing two strategic reinforcements for the technical department: Fernando Matos and Alfredo Almeida.
According to information from journalist Venê Casagrande, Alfredo Almeida is expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro on January 5th to take on the role of head of scouts for Flamengo. Fernando Matos, who still needs to resolve contractual issues with his current club, will be an assistant in the same area, strengthening Rubro-Negro's fundraising sector.
EXPERIENCE SPOKE LOUDER
Fernando Matos, 49 years old, brings important experiences to his resume alongside José Boto. He has already worked with the Portuguese director at Shakhtar Donetsk, in Ukraine, and at PAOK, in Greece. Currently, Matos holds the position of head of scouts at Famalicão, in Portugal, a position he has held since July 2023. Furthermore, the professional has experience with youth coaches, accumulated during his time at Oliveira Douro, also in Portugal.
Alfredo Almeida, aged 41, also arrives with diverse backgrounds. In 2019, the Portuguese played in Brazilian football as technical coordinator of Coimbra, a team from Minas Gerais. More recently, he worked at NK Osijek, in Croatia, where he worked together with José Boto before accepting Flamengo's invitation.
BOTO PLANNING
The coming of Matos and Almeida reinforces Flamengoin further professionalizing football management. Investing in experienced professionals with experience in international markets is seen as essential to identify talent and improve the formation of the Red and Black squad.
The changes should not stop there. José Boto has already started conversations to try to bring another reinforcement to the technical board. The name of the moment is JP Sampaio, current director of Palmeiras, known for his efficient work at the base and professionally. Boto intends to meet with JP Sampaio in the coming days to try to convince him to join the Flamengo project. The attack will be decisive, and Rubro-Negro is betting on the professional's potential to add to the new management model that is being implemented.
Alvinegro still owed Mengão for the signing of Matheuzinho, but managed to deposit a huge amount to close the matter.

Flamengo received, this Friday (1st), another millionaire amount related to the sale of right-back Matheuzinho. Corinthians paid around R$ 14 million to Rubro-Negro , paying off the remaining amount of the negotiation made in February of this year.
At the time, the Rio de Janeiro club sold the player for R$21.48 million, but Corinthians delayed the third installment of the agreement. As a result, Flamengo demanded immediate payment of the entire outstanding amount . The information was initially reported by the portal Meu Timão.
To facilitate the payment, Corinthians signed an agreement with Brax, the company responsible for marketing advertising signs for both clubs. The company acted as guarantor for the deal and transferred the funds to Flamengo .
By August, Corinthians had already paid R$8 million directly to the Rio de Janeiro club. It then transferred R$7.58 million to Brax , which topped up the amount with another R$6 million , fully settling the debt with the club.
While the board celebrates receiving the amount, Flamengo remains focused on the field. The team led by Filipe Luís returns to play this Sunday (3), against Ceará, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at Arena Castelão, for the 18th round of the Brasileirão. The match will be broadcast live on Premiere, on pay-per-view.

Flamengo has already made four signings official this transfer window , but the delay in negotiations has drawn criticism from some fans . During striker Samuel Lino's presentation, football director José Boto spoke out on the matter and apologized to the Flamengo Nation.
“Sometimes things take a little longer than the fans want, and I apologize to the fans, but we ( Flamengo 's board) have fixed ideas, and as long as it's possible to have the players we want , we'll go after it,” explained Boto.
Brazilian football's second transfer window opened on July 10th, and Flamengo began the period cautiously, monitoring the market and evaluating options. As the weeks progressed, the board accelerated negotiations and secured four key signings : Saúl Ñíguez, Emerson Royal, Samuel Lino, and Jorge Carrascal.
Despite the names already confirmed, Flamengo remains attentive to the market. The club is in ongoing negotiations with Fiorentina, Italy, to sign striker Lucas Beltrán . Flamengo has already agreed on a fee with the Italian club, but still needs to convince the Argentine player to return to South America.

Flamengo announced the early opening of ticket sales for the three games it will play at Maracanã in August, all valid for the Brazilian Championship. Starting next Monday (August 4), fan club members will have priority access to purchase tickets, with differentiated prices according to the Programa Nação plan.
Ticket sales will be staggered, respecting the hierarchy of plans, before being opened to the general public. Purchases must be made exclusively through ingressos.flamengo.com.br , the official channel for ticket sales for the Mais Querido's games.
Members of the Nation Without Borders plan will be able to purchase up to two tickets per match, as long as they haven't already used the benefit this season. The window for this plan opens at 10 a.m. on August 4th. Prices follow the general public price list . Access to other plans will be progressively enhanced according to the club's schedule, before being released to fans without membership on dates to be announced later.
Fans seeking a unique experience can opt for the Fla+ Space , which offers an exclusive environment in the Lower East and West sectors, with a full buffet and free draft beer before kickoff. The additional cost is R$200 per ticket.
Members who purchase tickets for the Maracanã Mais and Oeste Inferior sectors can secure a spot in the Célio de Barros Parking Lot , next to the stadium. The cost is R$180 and must be purchased with the ticket, subject to availability.
