Flamengo takes to the field this Sunday (20) to face Fluminense, at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, in a duel valid for the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship. For the classic, coach Filipe Luís will have to deal with six confirmed absences , in addition to two suspended players.

WHO IS OUT OF THE CLASSIC?

Among those absent is Bruno Henrique , suspended after receiving his third yellow card in the match against Santos . In addition to him, full-backs Ayrton Lucas (shin injury) and Alex Sandro (muscle injury) are still recovering in the medical department.

Another significant absence is midfielder De La Cruz, who was not included in the squad for the match. Michael, still recovering from left ankle pain, is also out. Midfielder Erick Pulgar, who underwent foot surgery , is still in rehabilitation and has no estimated return date.

WHO'S HUNG?

Two players from the red-black squad are suspended with two yellow cards: Wallace Yan and Erick Pulgar himself - who, despite being injured, remains listed. If Wallace Yan is cautioned in the classic, he will be out of the duel against Red Bull Bragantino, next Wednesday (24), in Bragança Paulista.

FLAMENGO'S NEXT COMMITMENT

After this Sunday's classic, Flamengo returns to the field on Wednesday (24), to face Red Bull Bragantino, away from home, in the 16th round of the Brasileirão . The match against Fluminense will be broadcast exclusively by Premiere (pay-per-view) for all of Brazil.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed that all national competitions will be suspended during the 2027 Women's World Cup , which will be held in Brazil for the first time and will affect teams such as Flamengo due to the use of the main stadiums in Brazilian football.

CBF coordinator on Brazilian football: "Brazil's calendar will stop"

“During the 2027 World Cup, Brazil 's calendar will stop, including the men's. So, it's a very good opportunity , because whoever is consuming football will be consuming women's football,” said Marina Figueiredo, project coordinator for the Brazilian Women's Teams, during a presentation at Conafut (National Football Conference) this Friday (08).

The tournament will be played between June 24th and July 25th, and both the men's and women's championships will be suspended for a month . Furthermore, Brazilian club training centers must be used by the participating teams.

REASON FOR STRIKE

The measure is being taken because the stadiums of eight host cities will be ceded to FIFA for the games : Mineirão (Belo Horizonte), Mané Garrincha (Brasília), Neo Química Arena (São Paulo), Maracanã (Rio de Janeiro), Beira-Rio (Porto Alegre), Arena de Pernambuco (Recife), Fonte Nova (Salvador) and Castelão (Fortaleza).

FLAMENGO'S NEXT GAME

Meanwhile, Flamengo remains focused on the season's commitments . This Saturday (09), the team led by Filipe Luís faces Mirassol, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, for the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship.

Before the match against Mirassol, valid for the 19th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo was welcomed at Maracanã with direct demands from the fans , who demanded the national title . After the 2-1 victory , coach Filipe Luís was questioned about the pressure and defended the right of the red-blacks to express themselves.

Filipe Luís on the Brasileirão: "We have an obligation to give our lives for Flamengo"

"The fans have every right to do whatever they want. The day I arrived at Flamengo , there was a protest after the loss to Emelec in the Libertadores, and I knew where I was coming from. There is no other way without the fans' demands . We have an obligation to give our lives for Flamengo, to prioritize it before our families. We can't control the result, but we want to win and we'll go for it," he stated.

REASON FOR CHARGE

As the team entered the field, the stands chanted: “ It’s not easy, no, the Brazilian Championship is an obligation ”, remembering the recent elimination to Atlético-MG in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil, where the coach was also asked at the press conference if there was such a condition in the Brasileirão.

HOW WAS THE MATCH?

On his 40th birthday, Filipe Luís celebrated with a victory. Léo Pereira and Gonzalo Plata scored for Flamengo , while Gabriel, a former player for the club between 2013 and 2017, scored for Mirassol, applying the "ex-law" at Maracanã.

SITUATION IN THE TABLE

With the victory, Flamengo moved into first place at the top of the Brazilian Championship, reaching 40 points. Second-place Cruzeiro has 37, leaving Flamengo three points ahead . Flamengo is still playing in the 19th round, but Mengão has a game in hand over the Minas Gerais club due to its participation in the Club World Cup.

Alex Sandro, who put in a strong performance, praised the team's performance against an opponent in good form: "We knew it would be a tough match; Mirassol is having a great campaign. It's not easy to play after being eliminated, but we had a great response," he declared.

With renewed confidence, the full-back urged full focus for the upcoming matches against Internacional: "We'll have three consecutive matches against Internacional, but we'll take it step by step. This next match is crucial. We need to stick to our guns, improve where necessary, and maintain our confidence ," he added.
