In the transfer market ahead of the Club World Cup , Flamengo is very close to closing an important signing for midfield: Jorge Carrascal, 27 years old. The Colombian midfielder, who has already been on the Rubro-Negro's radar in the past, is in his fourth season in Russia. However, according to the Colombian media, he wants to leave the country and sign with Flamengo.
According to journalist Salomé Fajardo , "minimal details" separate the player from signing a contract. The goal, of course, is to have the Colombian ready for the Club World Cup. However, the contract will not be just for the tournament in the United States. Despite targeting the athlete as a reinforcement for the competition, Flamengo should sign a longer contract with Carrascal, the duration of which has not yet been announced .
Trained in the youth ranks of Millonarios-COL (who were Flamengo's rivals in the group stage of the 2024 Libertadores), Carrascal played only two professional games for the team that revealed him . He quickly started playing for Sevilla-ESP's youth ranks, who loaned him to Karpaty-UCR. The Ukrainian team decided to buy the player and, in 2019, loaned Carrascal to River Plate.
Even with few games, the Colombian was acquired permanently by the Buenos Aires team and achieved the best numbers of his career, with 63 games played in 2021 alone . There were six goals and five assists that season.
Having caught the attention of Europe, Carrascal made his way back for the following season , but on loan to CSKA-RUS. Once again, he was bought and stayed for one season. In 2023/2024, Carrascal was finally sold from CSKA to Dynamo Moscow and remains in Russia to this day. For his new club, he has already played 62 games, with eight goals and eight assists. According to Transfermarkt , the athlete's value is around €7 million (around R$44.8 million at the current rate).
At the end of May, while Flamengo was deciding a spot in the Copa do Brasil against Botafogo-PB, director José Boto assured that all possible reinforcements for the Club World Cup had already been mapped out and negotiations were underway . However, the Portuguese assured that he would not mention the names so as not to run the risk of disrupting the negotiations. The most obvious is Jorginho, who will be made official at any moment.
Flamengo's trip to the Club World Cup is scheduled for June 11 , five days before the opening match against Espérance-TUN. On the 20th, the opponent will be Chelsea . Finally, the Mais Querido will close the group stage in the United States against Los Angeles FC, on the 24th.
With Arrascaeta suspended and key absences, Filipe Luís is betting on a fast attack and confirms Jorginho's return to the starting lineup

Flamengo is ready to face Internacional this Wednesday (13), at Maracanã , for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. Coach Filipe Luís confirmed the entry of Luiz Araújo in place of Arrascaeta, who is suspended, and promoted the return of Jorginho to the starting lineup.
Without the Uruguayan number 10, the red-black team will take to the field with: Rossi; Royal, Léo Ortiz, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro; Jorginho, Allan; Luiz Araújo, Plata, Samuel Lino and Pedro.
The main new addition is Jorginho, who returns after serving a suspension in the Brasileirão victory over Mirassol. Arrascaeta, on the other hand, is out due to an accumulation of yellow cards in the continental competition.
In addition to Arrascaeta, Flamengo will be without Erick Pulgar (right foot surgery), De La Cruz (left knee injury), and Danilo (right thigh injury). The final roster could still be surprising, as Filipe Luís has opted for strategic cuts due to the excess players on the roster.
The match between Flamengo and Internacional is scheduled for 9:30 pm (Brasília time), with live broadcast on Rede Globo, on open TV, and on Disney+, via streaming. The return duel takes place next Wednesday (20), at Beira-Rio, in Porto Alegre.
Mengão purchased the space to build its own arena and the company will pay around 15% of the value to Caixa Econômica Federal.

Flamengo's own stadium project gained direct participation from Companhia Carioca de Parcerias e Investimentos (CCPAR) in the preliminary agreement signed between the club, the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, and Caixa Econômica Federal. Specializing in concessions and partnerships, the municipal public company will be responsible for investing R$29.2 million, approximately 15% of the R$199.6 million earmarked for the Gasômetro land acquisition.
The amount will be allocated as financial compensation to Caixa, the former owner of the space through the Porto Maravilha Real Estate Investment Fund , which was expropriated by the City for the auction that resulted in Flamengo 's purchase. This information is from GE.
Flamengo will receive the majority of the amount: R$170 million . This amount includes the R$138 million already paid in the 2023 auction, plus R$7.9 million for the judicial investigation, and an additional R$23.6 million, which will be paid in five installments.
Despite progress in negotiations, the project still faces obstacles. Removing the gas pipelines and clearing the land remain the responsibility of the City Hall . Governor Cláudio Castro assured the website 'MundoBola Flamengo' that the municipality is committed to these steps.
At Flamengo, the topic is being treated cautiously. The Deliberative Council is preparing to discuss ways to secure the necessary resources without compromising the institution's financial health . Contrary to what had been reported, the topic of the new stadium did not come up at the last CoDe meeting.
