Despite having started the Libertadores as one of the favorites for the title , Flamengo arrives at the last round of the group stage still needing to confirm its place in the round of 16. Rubro-Negro faces the eliminated Deportivo Táchira this Wednesday (28), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, with chances of finishing first , but also at risk of being left out.
Journalist Mauro Beting highlighted his disappointment with the Rio de Janeiro team's campaign in the group stage . “For me, before the ball started rolling in the Libertadores, the biggest favorite to have the best campaign in the group stage was Flamengo . But they got into trouble on their own. They arrive in the last round with a low chance, but they will qualify,” he assessed.
Still, the expectation is that, once qualified, Flamengo will once again be the most feared opponent in South America . For Beting, if the team finishes in second place, it will be a “big problem” for any group leader who crosses their path in the round of 16.
“And if we don’t finish first, it will be a problem for everyone , as we just saw in the game against Palmeiras at Allianz Parque,” said the commentator, referring to the red-black team’s victory in the Brasileirão .
Only a victory will do for Flamengo this Wednesday in the Libertadores. The Mais Querido has eight points and is in second place in Group C. Central Córdoba leads with 11, and LDU is in third, also with eight, but with an inferior goal difference.
To qualify without depending on other results, Flamengo needs to beat Táchira . If Central Córdoba loses to LDU in Quito, Rubro-Negro could finish in first place . With both teams tied on 11 points, goal difference will be the tiebreaker. Currently, Mais Querido has +2 and the Argentine team has +3.

Flamengo beat Internacional 1-0 this Wednesday (13) , at Maracanã, and started with an advantage in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. Despite the positive result, striker Bruno Henrique assessed that the team lost performance in the second half and explained the reasons for the drop in intensity.
" In the second half, for the first 15 minutes , we want to score right away, and it ends up deviating a bit from what we planned at halftime. We end up being a bit exposed, and the opposing team scores a lot in the first half. In the second half, they have to open up to try to score," said the number 27.
"That's what happened against Internacional. They scored the whole time in the first half. We had more possession, more shots, and more through balls. Midfielder Jorge Carrascal made his debut for Flamengo this Wednesday (13), against Internacional , in a duel valid for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. The Colombian player, who was already regularized, was related last Saturday (9), against Mirassol, but did not enter the field on that occasion.
The opportunity arose during the continental tournament. Carrascal replaced Gonzalo Plata in the 28th minute of the second half and remained on the field for 23 minutes, including stoppage time.
