Last Saturday, the 4th, the exciting edition of the Pan American Games came to an end, a sporting event that mobilizes athletes and fans from all over America. Brazil had reason to celebrate, as it won the bronze medal in men's basketball, a notable achievement for the national sport. However, the news brings a shadow of concern for Flamengo fans, as two important members of the team, Didi Louzada and Scott Machado, were unable to compete for the podium, which could complicate FlaBasquete's journey in Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB).

Didi Louzada, one of the team's highlights, suffered a slight sprain in her right ankle during the clash against Puerto Rico, in the last round of the group stage. This injury prevented him from participating in both the semi-final and the bronze game. However, there is a certain relief, as the athlete has been undergoing intensive treatments since the time of the injury, which raises hopes for his speedy recovery.

Scott Machado's situation, on the other hand, It is a cause for great concern for Flamengo and its fans. According to information from journalist Enéas Lima, the shipowner suffered a probable fracture in his foot. New tests will be carried out in Rio de Janeiro to confirm the severity of the injury. If the fracture is confirmed, the red and black board must take measures to make up for the player's absence, either through signings or using other athletes from the squad.

News that may bring some relief in the midst of These concerns are due to the fact that, according to Enéas, the athletes from the men's basketball team who participated in the Pan American Games were covered by insurance. This means that the insurance will cover Scott Machado's salary during the period in which he is out due to injury, which could help minimize the financial impacts of this absence.

Despite the casualties of Didi Louzada and Scott Machado, Flamengo will be able to count on the return of other important players, such as Gui Deodato, Gabriel Jaú, Maique and coach Gustavo De Conti, who will certainly play a fundamental role in the continuation of the season. The situation becomes even more urgent when we look at Flamengo's NBB calendar. After a period of break due to the participation of some of its players in the Pan-American Championship, Flamengo will return to the court this Tuesday, the 7th, to face Botafogo at Maracanãzinho. Coach Gustavo De Conti will have to deal with the absence of Scott Machado and, most likely, Didi Louzada. These absences represent an additional challenge, as both players play crucial roles in the team and are frequently used in matches.

After the clash against Botafogo, Flamengo will face Vasco next Thursday, on the 9th, with command from the Cruzmaltino field. The team's return to the NBB after participating in the Pan-American Championships marks the beginning of a series of games for the national competition. It is a crucial moment for FlaBasquete, as any fluctuation in the team's performance could affect its overall performance in the tournament.

In summary, Flamengo won bronze in men's basketball at the Pan American Games, but the injury Didi Louzada and Scott Machado's possible fracture raise concerns about the team's performance in the NBB. Didi Louzada's recovery is promising, while Flamengo awaits the results of Scott Machado's tests to determine the measures to be taken. The insurance company that supported the national team's players at the Pan-American Games helps alleviate the financial impacts of Scott Machado's injury. Flamengo will have to deal with important absences in the next NBB games, which makes these matches a crucial challenge for the team.

For everything he experienced on the court, Olivinha is one of Flamengo's greatest idols. In FlaBasquete, he appears as the big figure, even represented by an organized fan flag. The God of Race is the only player in the club's history to win both World Cups won by the team in the sport. His importance is so valued that he will become the only athlete outside football to receive an important honor.

Like great names in football, Olivinha will receive a bust in his honor, and it will be displayed at the Flamengo Museum , in Gávea, according to the newspaper O Globo. It is the first time that a basketball player has received this type of honor at the club, which is very common with football players.

At the main entrance to Gávea, there are busts of Raul, Leandro, Marinho, Moer, Júnior, Andrade, Nunes, Adílio and Lico. Furthermore, Zico has some statues, such as one at the entrance to the Ninho do Urubu football complex. The tributes are all to the stars of the 80s who marked their time at Rubro-Negro. Now, Olivinha enters that same shelf upon receiving the bust, perpetuating herself as an eternal FlaBasquete idol.

The object has already been ordered and should be close to the idols of 1981. The tribute is prepared by the sculptor Eduardo Santos, which is already producing the item at the request of Flamengo.

Olivinha retired at the end of last season for FlaBasquete

The FlaBasquete idol retired at the end of last season. Olivinha announced that she would stop playing after the end of the NBB, which mobilized the team to try to reach the decision and win the cup, honoring the star's legacy.

However, despite reaching the final, the The team was unable to overcome Franca, finishing runner-up and Olivinha had to say a painful but emotional goodbye.

After retirement, Olivinha was given a program on Fla TV. The ‘Lance Livre’ mentions basketball, but it is not just about that topic, but rather a review of the former player with a red-and-black guest. In the premiere, for example, the character chosen was the singer Naldo Benny.

This past Tuesday (7), the Brazilian basketball team lost to the United States 122-87 in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games. Olivinha, Flamengo's idol and former Brazilian national team player, opened the game after the Brazilians were eliminated.

“Looking on the positive side: we were among the top eight at the Olympics. This, without sponsorship, a coach who has no salary, a fight between the confederation and the national league and little investment in the youth categories. Imagine if we get it together a little, where can we get?”, wrote Olivinha.

Olivinha believes that the fight between the Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB) and the National Basketball League (LNB) is hindering the selection from Brazil. This is because the two organizations are going through bureaucratic disagreements about carrying out the NBB. Thus, the lack of agreement is one of the points that keep sponsors away even from the national team.

COACH WITHOUT SALARY

The Mais Querido idol also commented that Croatian coach Aleksandar Petrović does not receives fixed salaries in the Brazilian team, which is one of the points that hinders Brazil's possible growth in the sport. However, Olivinha praised the country's final result.

BRAZIL'S CAMPAIGN

Brazil finished third in Group B of the Olympic Games, with victory against Japan and defeats against France and Germany. Thus, the Brazilian team faced the United States in the quarterfinals and lost 122 to 87, ending its participation among the eight best in the world.
