FLAMENGO ENDS LIBERTADORES GROUP PHASE WITHOUT CONCRETING A GOAL AT MARACANÃ

Flamengo is now focusing on the Copa do Brasil, in the semi-final against Corinthians. However, looking ahead to the next Brasileirão match, which will be against Bahia, Mais Querido has good news. This is because the Bahian team will not have Everton Ribeiro available, as the midfielder received his third yellow card and will serve an automatic suspension.

Everton Ribeiro was the only one of Bahia's eight suspended players who received a yellow card and will be out of the match against Flamengo. The midfielder received punishment from Edina Alves in the 36th minute of the second stage of the clash against Criciúma, after a foul on Jhonata Robert.

Now, Rogério Ceni will need to find a replacement for the number 10. It is possible that the coach changes the way the team plays. There are two likely options: the entry of another midfielder (De Pena or Yago Felipe) or another striker.

As announced by Mais Querido, Filipe Luís will take charge coach of the professional team as interim. However, Rubro-Negro has not yet announced whether the former full-back will remain in charge of the team until the arrival of a new coach or whether he will remain until the end of the season.

In this way, Filipe Luís is already starting to prepare the squad this Monday (30) for the match against Corinthians to return to the field next Wednesday (2). , for the first leg of the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil.

Flamengo was eliminated from the Libertadores last Thursday (26), when they only had a goalless draw with Peñarol, but lost on aggregate. In this way, Mais Querido joined Palmeiras and broke a historic sequence. This is because, for the first time since 2017, none of the clubs are in the semi-finals of the competition.

With the draw with Peñarol, Mais Querido was eliminated in the quarter-finals, after losing 1 to 0 in the first match. On the other hand, Palmeiras fell to Botafogo in the round of 16, 4-3 on aggregate.

In this seven-year period, Rubro-Negro was a triple finalist in the Libertadores, winning two titles (2019 and 2022). In the current edition, Mais Querido reached the quarterfinals and fell to the round of 16 in three others. Palmeiras reached two decisions and won both (2020 and 2021). Furthermore, the alviverde team stopped in the semi-finals three times.

Eliminated from the Libertadores, Flamengo will only have two competitions to focus on: Copa of Brazil and Brasileirão. In the national knockout round, Rubro-Negro faces Corinthians in the semi-final. In the points competition, Flamengo needs to win again to get out of fourth place.
