After an internal evaluation, the club's board concluded it needed another defensive option. In the Copa do Brasil round of 16 matches against Atlético-MG, coach Filipe Luís was unable to rest his starting defenders. Danilo is injured, and the only alternatives on the bench were youngsters João Victor and Cleiton .
Cleiton, meanwhile, is set to leave at the end of the year, when his contract expires . The defender's staff is already in talks with interested clubs for a possible early transfer this summer. French magazine France Football released this Thursday (7) the official list of nominees for the 2025 Ballon d'Or award.
