Flamengo faces a considerable challenge in trying to sign Lazio striker Taty Castellanos . The Italian club has no interest in negotiating the 26-year-old Argentine striker , who is considered one of the team's key players.
Lazio director on Taty Castellano at Flamengo: "No offer has been made"
In an interview with the 'GE' portal this Friday, Lazio's football director, Angelo Fabiani, was blunt: there was no offer from Flamengo , and Castellanos is not available on the market. It's worth remembering that, in June, Italian media outlets indicated that a possible sale of the player would be between 35 and 40 million euros (approximately R$227 to R$259 million). "No offer has been made (by Flamengo), and the player is not for sale," Fabiani stated.
In addition to Castellanos ' technical importance, another obstacle is the embargo imposed on Lazio by Italian football's regulatory bodies, which prevents the club from registering new players until September 30. Therefore, the team does not intend to let go of one of its main athletes, as it would not be able to replace the loss on the market.
On the other hand, Flamengo sees this scenario as a potential opportunity to move forward. The idea is that a robust offer—estimated at €25 million (approximately R$160 million)—could be attractive enough to financially help Lazio and thus alleviate the fiscal situation that led to the penalty. This improved financial situation could accelerate the club's return to the market.
Despite the interest, Flamengo has not yet made a formal offer to Lazio. Internally, the Rio de Janeiro club is treating the negotiations as incipient. Currently, talks are focused on the player's entourage and aim to convince him to leave European football —a step considered essential before opening any official negotiations with the Italians.
It's worth remembering that, besides Castellanos, Lazio only has Boulaye Dia as an attacking option . A potential departure of the Argentine would leave the squad even more depleted, which reinforces the resistance to negotiations.
Last season, Castellanos appeared in 40 matches, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists. In 2023/24, he appeared in 46 matches, scoring six goals and providing three assists . Before joining Lazio, he excelled at Girona in Spain, scoring 14 goals in 37 matches.
This week, the striker once again raised concerns among the coaching staff when he left a Lazio training session with calf pain. He started the session but was unable to finish due to muscle discomfort. Last season, the Argentine suffered similar injuries , sidelining him for a total of 56 days.
Mengão didn't have an easy time against Leão, but they managed to win and close the round still leading the Brazilian league without needing any results.

On Filipe Luís' 40th birthday, the team gave the gift of a victory and days of calm after being eliminated in the Copa do Brasil with goals from Léo Pereira and Gonzalo Plata. Gabriel, who played for Fla between 2013 and 2018, scored for Leão.

Striker Matheus Gonçalves is close to joining CSKA Moscow in Russia. The Russian club has long-standing interest, but talks have progressed in recent weeks , and Flamengo is already admitting the possibility of losing the 19-year-old.
The proposal involves a loan with an option to buy at the end of the contract. If he excels in Russian football, CSKA will have priority to acquire the player permanently . Matheus' departure, however, is not expected to happen before the U-20 World Cup final, when Flamengo faces Barcelona.
Matheus Gonçalves was once close to a deal with Cruzeiro, but was reinstated to Filipe Luís's squad after strong performances with the U-20 team . Therefore, he authorized his staff to seek new opportunities, and CSKA Moscow emerged as an important opportunity, including for his first experience in Europe.
A product of Flamengo's youth academy, the striker played for Red Bull Bragantino in 2023, playing 13 matches . The São Paulo club attempted to sign him permanently, but the deal fell through. This season, Matheus has played 15 games and scored two goals for Flamengo.
The player is a product of Mengão's youth academy and is Galo's new signing for the 2025 season after a disappointing stint at Real Madrid.

Atlético-MG made official this Friday (08) the signing of midfielder Reinier , revealed by Flamengo. The 23-year-old player signed a contract valid until December 31, 2029. According to journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira, Mengão consulted the player's representatives, but considered the amounts requested too high for the moment.
