The Paraibana Football Federation (FPF-PB) took an important step to strengthen ties with Flamengo and promote local football in 2025. Last Thursday (19), the entity made official the letter of intent sent to the Federation Football Association of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Ferj), expressing interest in hosting Flamengo games in Paraíba. The proposal comes after the great success of the clash between Flamengo and Nova Iguaçu played at Almeidão, in João Pessoa, at the beginning of 2024, a game that was marked in the history of Paraíba football by the highest revenue ever recorded in official matches in the state. p>
The Flamengo, a traditional club from Rio, has already shown interest in expanding its presence across different regions of Brazil. The match against Nova Iguaçu, valid for the Campeonato Carioca, generated a total of R$ 1,528,264.00 in revenue, an impressive mark for local football, which highlighted Paraíba's potential to host big games. With this, FPF-PB saw an opportunity to further strengthen the partnership with the red-black team, enhancing the impact of this collaboration for both parties.
JOGOS NA PARAÍBA
According to ge's investigation, one of the possibilities being discussed is the holding of a game between Flamengo and Madureira, in the second round of the 2025 Carioca Championship. January 15th could take place in Campina Grande, a city with a large Flamengo fan base and where the club has played on five occasions. Despite being a strong option, there is still no official confirmation on the location and date of the confrontation, as negotiations are still ongoing.
FERJ RECEIVES THE COMMUNICATION < /b>
The State Secretariat for Youth, Sport and Leisure (Sejel), the body responsible for sport in the state, confirmed that it received the proposal to host the game, but highlighted that it is still in the negotiation phase with Flamengo < /b>and FPF-PB. The expectation is that, if carried out, the event will not only bring national visibility to football in Paraíba, but also generate a positive impact on the local economy, through tourism and spending on tickets and products associated with the game.
The choice of Campina Grande as the venue for the match is in line with Flamengo's strategy of taking its games to different parts of Brazil. This decision aims not only to expand the presence of the Flamengo, but also bring the club closer to its fans in regions less accessible to the elite teams of national football. The city of Campina Grande, one of the most important in Paraíba, has been a growing hub for sporting and cultural events, and Flamengo sees it as a strategic location to strengthen its bond with the northeastern fans. p>
With an almost complete squad and a favorable record, the Rio de Janeiro team is trying to extend its lead against the Bahian team at Maracanã.

Protagonist in Flamengo's U-20 world championship , won last Saturday (23), defender Iago entered the radar of European clubs. According to information from the “GE” portal, teams such as Everton and Brentford, from England , as well as Club Brugge, from Belgium, carried out inquiries for the player.
Despite the interest, none of these teams have formalized an offer. The only concrete offer received so far came from Bahia, at the request of coach Rogério Ceni. The northeastern club submitted a proposal of €2 million (approximately R$12.8 million) , in addition to offering a 20% stake in a future sale. Bahia, however, declined the offer and reiterated that Iago is not available for negotiations.
Iago was decisive in the final against Barcelona (ESP) at the Maracanã Stadium. Mengão was trailing 2-1 and the title seemed to be slipping away, until, in the final minutes, Daniel Sales sent a long ball into the box. The ball found Iago's head, which he lobbed over the goalkeeper, taking the decision to penalties , where the Rio de Janeiro team secured the title.
At 20, Iago still has important commitments in the U-20 category before a possible transition to the main squad. In 2025, he will compete in the U-20 Carioca Championship and the U-20 Copa do Brasil. His successful career includes titles such as the U-17 Copa do Brasil, the U-17 Supercopa do Brasil, the U-20 Brazilian Championship, the U-20 South American Championship, and two U-20 Libertadores titles.
The defender's current contract runs until December 2026, and Flamengo is expected to renew his contract to keep him in the long-term project . However, the situation is being monitored by Volta Redonda, the club that developed Iago in the U-15s and still holds 40% of his economic rights. Currently, Flamengo owns 60% and is considering acquiring an additional 10% for approximately R$500,000.
