Coach Dorival Júnior released, this Friday (27), the list of the Brazilian team for the next games in the World Cup qualifiers, calling up Gerson, from Flamengo. The midfielder, who was among the four red-and-black names on the coach's pre-list, will be part of the team in the matches against Chile and Peru, scheduled for the 10th and 15th of October. There is concern about the possibility of an absence in the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil.
It is worth remembering that Gerson and Pedro were called up for the last games, but the striker suffered an injury that will rule him out of the rest of the season. Despite having had few opportunities, the midfielder maintains his place among the squad. The other players on the preliminary list, Ayrton Lucas, Fabrício Bruno and Léo Ortiz, were discarded by Dorival.

This is Gerson's second call-up this season. The Flamengo midfielder was also on coach Dorival Júnior's last list, when Brazil faced Ecuador and Paraguay. At the time, Gerson was on the bench in both matches and entered the field in both. The midfielder has been one of Rubro-Negro's main players this year and receives constant praise despite the team's bad phase.

Santos has decided to host the match against Flamengo on July 16, for the 14th round of the Brazilian Championship, at Vila Belmiro. The São Paulo club even negotiated the sale of the home stadium to Brasília in order to raise funds, but the proposal was rejected.

There was a possibility that the match would be moved to Mané Garrincha. The idea of the company that made the proposal was to take advantage of the predominantly red-and-black crowd in Brasília to raise a large amount of money. The amounts offered to Santos were not revealed. The likely "reversal" of home advantage, however, was one of the reasons for the São Paulo team's refusal.
It is worth remembering that this same company has a debt of R$587,354.00 with Flamengo for not passing on the entire amount agreed upon for the Botafogo-PB x Flamengo match, for the Copa do Brasil, which was transferred to Maranhão. The club decided to take the company to court.
Santos wanted to play the match against Flamengo at Morumbis, São Paulo's stadium. However, they were unable to obtain permission from the police , as Palmeiras is playing at Allianz Parque on the same date and the security forces prohibit games of big teams in the city on the same day.
