Last Tuesday (15), Mário Jorge Lobo Zagallo, a former player and former coach of Flamengo, was admitted to Hospital Barra D’or, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. At the age of 92, Velho Lobo suffers from a urinary tract infection. The hospital released a medical bulletin informing that there was improvement, but that there is no forecast for hospital discharge.

"Zagallo remains hospitalized at the Barra d'Or hospital for treatment of a urinary infection, with evidence of clinical and laboratory improvement , lucid, breathing without the help of equipment, still without a forecast for hospital discharge, under the care of Dr. Márcia Ladeira", says the bulletin released this Saturday (19).

Doctor Márcia Ladeira is responsible for health de Zagallo for 20 years, and continues to watch the football legend closely. In 2022, the former Flamengo player was also taken care of by the doctor when he was hospitalized due to a respiratory infection. During his hospitalization, Velho Lobo stayed in the semi-intensive unit, but was able to recover.

Zagallo made football history as the only four-time World Cup champion (as a player, coach and coordinator). As a player, the idol won the world title in 1958 and 1962, alongside Pelé and Garrincha. Furthermore, Velho Lobo made history with the sacred mantle during his spells at Flamengo, becoming an eternal legend of the club.
