Flamengo idol, the former defender Marinho underwent surgery this Tuesday (27), the date on which he turned 69 years old. In a statement, the family reported that everything went as planned, without any complications. The procedure was carried out at the University Hospital of Londrina and lasted a little over four hours. Medical discharge is scheduled for Wednesday (28), according to the newspaper O Globo.
Marinho had to undergo surgery after being attacked in Londrina, where he lives. Neto, the former player's son, explained that his father suffered two strokes a year and two months ago and that he lives with consequences - among them, forgetfulness. Therefore, Neto believes that Marinho has confused the residence and entered the wrong house. The former defender was attacked at the location in question and suffered cracks in his jaw.
"A year and two months ago he had two strokes and had two surgeries within a period of two months. These are serious injuries that he He ended up having them, they created consequences, and he still lives with them. They vary: forgetfulness, changing his name, not knowing his children's names, not remembering his granddaughters. Sometimes he calls me his brother-in-law or his brother. But it's been evolving well, he recognizes several friends, he recognizes us, he has a relatively good social life, he is present with us, very similar to what he was before", began Marinho's son.
