Retired from the pitch since 2022, former midfielder Diego Ribas revealed on his program Podcast 10 & Faixa that he almost left Flamengo to play for Santos in the final part of his career. In an interview with singer Mano Brown, Diego recalled with the musician a call he received from the rapper to return to Vila Belmiro.
“There was a situation with Santos, which is very good. At times I had contact with Santos. They've already tried to get me to return. I spoke to some presidents, they tried to make some conditions, it was difficult, because of the club I was at (Flamengo) and everything, but I ignored it and moved on. But there was one time when you called and told me: ‘Come home, Diego’. At that time I was at Flamengo”, Diego Ribas told Brown.
Diego Ribas told Mano Brown that his call was the only one that made him rethink leaving Flamengo between 2016 and 2022.
“After our conversation ended, I said: 'Bruna (wife) is next, what now? Bro Brown told me to go to Santos’. Like, the president's wasn't heavy, with all due respect. But man, now Mano said that I have to go to Santos, so I was thinking. It was the moment that I most reflected on my return to Santos”, he pointed out.
“But I came to the conclusion that I was at a moment in my life, professional and personal, which is at Flamengo. I had all my dreams, my goals. I was doing well at Flamengo, I said: ‘I’m going to the end here’. I decided not to reopen this book because the story had already been told. I didn’t go back, but I remember that this call made a difference”, he concluded.
Two-time Brazilian champion with Santos, Diego also won two Brazilian titles with Flamengo, in addition to two Libertadores, one Copa do Brasil, three Cariocas, one Recopa and two Super Cups.

With Bruno Henrique suspended, Filipe Luís analyzes options for the derby; Wallace Yan's performance puts the youngster ahead of Everton Cebolinha
|
With Bruno Henrique absent due to suspension, coach Filipe Luís will be forced to make changes to Flamengo's attacking sector for the classic against Fluminense, scheduled for this Sunday (20), at 7:30 pm, at Maracanã . The dispute for the spot is between the young Wallace Yan and the experienced Everton Cebolinha, and the balance seems to be tipping towards the red-black promise.
Despite only playing 51 minutes in the Brazilian Championship, Wallace has excelled when called upon, scoring important goals and capturing the fans' attention. According to the ge website, the striker has already surpassed Juninho in the internal pecking order and is currently seen as the main candidate to replace Bruno Henrique in the starting lineup.
Wallace Yan, alongside Bruno Henrique , is the squad's third-highest scorer this season, with seven goals. This is a significant number, especially considering the striker's limited playing time. His effectiveness has been a differentiator, especially compared to the team's more experienced players.
Everton Cebolinha, on the other hand, has played 534 minutes in the Brasileirão, more than ten times as much as Wallace. However, the number 11 has directly contributed to only two goals in the competition and is facing a seven-match drought without contributing assists or goals. The player's inconsistent form has sparked dissatisfaction among fans, increasing the pressure on the coach when choosing the lineup.
Filipe Luís is likely to keep Plata as a false 9 , and if he opts for Everton Cebolinha, the number 11 will be moved to the left side of the attack. However, recent factors favor the selection of Wallace Yan, who has been responding to the opportunities he receives and outperforming his direct competitor.
In financial crisis, Olaria calls assembly to approve transformation into SAF and sale of 95% of football to consortium formed by singer and director

Olaria, one of the most traditional clubs in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro, is close to a new chapter in its history. The club, which is facing serious financial difficulties, has scheduled a meeting with its members for next Monday (15) to decide on its transformation into a Football Corporation (SAF) and the sale of 95% of its football rights to a business consortium.
The group interested in the acquisition includes rapper L7nnon, former Flamengo vice-president Marcos Braz, and the sports marketing firm Ric's, which already manages the club's football operations. The companies involved are DLA Investments, representing L7nnon , DTS Serviços Integrados de Telecomunicações, linked to Marcos Braz , and Ric's Sports.
Olaria is experiencing financial instability, marked by labor debts and liens, which have jeopardized its sports operations. According to president André Luiz, known as "Batata," the current situation makes it impossible to maintain traditional football: "The current situation was unfeasible for football, and they wanted it. We're fighting to keep it going. There are a lot of liens and labor lawsuits," Batata told ge.
With the potential sale, the club estimates it will raise R$25 million for the transfer of 95% of its football rights. Part of the proceeds will be allocated to regularizing the club's tax situation, with the promise of obtaining a clearance certificate by the end of August.
According to the notice calling the meeting, the new members intend to make immediate contributions to pay off liabilities and restructure the football department. The proposal is to transform Olaria into an efficient and competitive SAF, with professional management and medium- and long-term planning.
Despite shining in the rout against Bayer Leverkusen, the young Mengão midfielder regrets not being included in the club's social media post.

Flamengo comfortably defeated Bayer Leverkusen 5-1 in a friendly match held at Gávea Stadium, and one of the star performers was young Matheus Gonçalves. The number 10 played an active role: scoring a goal, providing an assist, hitting the crossbar , and curling a header that thrilled the home crowd.
However, despite his outstanding performance, the player expressed dissatisfaction on social media. After the match, Matheus commented on an official club post: " I don't understand, I'm not appearing in anything anymore 🤦🏻♂️… What madness. But we're going for it!! We keep going 🙏🏻❤️💪🏻." Shortly after, the message was deleted. The post in question did not contain his image, which sparked a public outcry.
The incident comes amid a period of uncertainty in the athlete's career. Matheus Gonçalves, a player brought up by the club itself , has found few opportunities in the professional team under coach Filipe Luís . He was included in the last official match, against Santos, but remained on the bench throughout the club's defeat.
Behind the scenes, Flamengo had made progress in negotiations with Cruzeiro, which offered €3.5 million (approximately R$22 million) for 50% of the player's economic rights. Despite the agreement being reached, president Luiz Eduardo Baptista (BAP) opted to back out and cancel the negotiation.
Despite the impasse regarding his first-team performance, Matheus continues to attract attention abroad . Olympiacos, a traditional Greek club, has shown interest in the young midfielder through its scouting department, which has been monitoring his performance since his youth academy.
