Absolute titleholder with Tite, Varela has been experiencing a unique moment since arriving at Flamengo, in mid-2022. After all, for the first time the Uruguayan had a run in the team. On the other hand, the intense pace of games is considered a problem for the full-back, who pointed out the heavy calendar of Brazilian and South American football as an obstacle for teams to perform at 100% in all matches.

Last year, he ended the Brasileirão as a starter, already under the command of Tite, ending the season with 21 games. This year, absolutely with the coach from Rio Grande do Sul, he has already entered the field 13 times and scored the first goal with Manto Sagrado, in Carioca's debut, against Audax.

During a debate on ESPN Brasil, former player Zinho compared the Santos number 10 to Flamengo's Arrascaeta , which sparked disagreement from Zé Elias. The former Mengão player stated that the Uruguayan wouldn't be able to perform at the São Paulo club.

The match, valid for the round of 16 of the Women's Brazil Cup , will be played in a single game.
