Hired to reinforce the squad for the Club World Cup , midfielder Jorginho was officially presented at CT do Ninho do Urubu this Saturday (07) and spoke about his physical condition. The player, who played for Arsenal, in England , has not played a full match since April, when he faced Brentford. Still, he believes he will be available for the Mais Querido's debut, on June 16, against Espérance de Tunis , in the United States.
Jorginho talks about World Cup conditions: "The conditions are something I will discover"
“I’m feeling good and really want to play. I’ll find out more about my condition in the next few days,” said the athlete, highlighting that the medical tests were completed successfully and that training has already begun. Despite his optimism, Jorginho left open the possibility of starting as a starter. “ The issue of 90 minutes and starting the game is no longer up to me (laughs) ,” he added.
Despite mentioning 25 May as his last appearance , Jorginho did not take to the pitch on that occasion. The midfielder was on the bench for Arsenal's win over Southampton . On 18 May, he only featured in injury time against Newcastle . The last time he completed 90 minutes was on 12 April, in the draw with Brentford. He has been recovering from a rib injury, which has contributed to his recent inactivity.
Even without a recent sequence of games, the red-black reinforcement arrives with experience and motivation to face the demanding calendar of national football. Asked about the difference in relation to the volume of games in Brazil, the player assured that he is ready to adapt.
Since the 2019/2020 season, when he was still playing for Chelsea, Jorginho has not surpassed the 50-match mark in a year. However, Brazilian clubs like Rubro-Negro play approximately 80 matches per season, including national and international competitions. The player was confident about adapting. “ I love challenges. I believe this is another challenge that I am very motivated to take on, ” he said.

Saturday (6) was a day of preparation at Ninho do Urubu during the FIFA break. During the training, coach Filipe Luís received great news : Jorginho completed the second consecutive day of training on the field and should be available for the next match.
The Italian-Brazilian was absent from the team in recent rounds after feeling pain in his thigh during the 8-0 thrashing of Vitória. After being rested against Grêmio, he returned to training normally this week and is cleared to face Juventude, next Sunday (14), in the Brasileirão.
In addition to Jorginho, Flamengo is also awaiting the recovery of Alex Sandro . The full-back suffered a left calf injury in the first half against Vitória and did not play in the 1-1 draw against Grêmio at Maracanã.
Since then, he has been undergoing intensive treatment in the medical department. The FIFA World Cup break is expected to help his progress, but his appearance against Juventude still depends on his response in the coming days.
Flamengo leads the championship and returns to action on September 14th at 4 pm (Brasília time) against Juventude in Caxias do Sul. Their opponents are in 18th place with 21 points from 21 matches and are fighting to escape the relegation zone.

The weekend will be decisive for the Série D of the Brazilian Championship: the four clubs that will gain access to the Third Division will be known. One of the duels takes place this Saturday (06), at 4 pm (Brasília time), between Barra-SC and Cianorte-PR , in Santa Catarina. On the Paraná side, the main reference is a name very familiar to Flamengo fans : Hernane Brocador.
Hernane Brocador, ex-Flamengo, on the decisive duel in Série D: "I believe everything will work out"
Cianorte has never played in Série C and is one game away from a historic feat. In the first leg, in Paraná, the teams drew 0-0, leaving everything open . Even playing away from home, Hernane, 39, remains confident of promotion.
"We're going to the long-awaited match, which is promotion. I believe everything will go well. I'll have something extra in my career. I said I'd come here to win promotion, but when you achieve that first step, you strive for even more . Titles and promotions make an athlete great," the striker told ge.
Signed mid-year, Hernane has nine appearances and one goal for the club. He's expected to start the decision on the bench, but his experience remains an asset for coach Rafael Ferro. "Ferro made it clear that if I see something, I should pass it on to him and help. It's his first job, and he's subject to trial and error . We always want to play, but we understand the importance of having an experienced player in the squad to serve as a role model for the younger players," commented the center forward.
Hernane plans to retire in 2026 and is already studying to become a coach. Until then, he aims to add to his list of achievements. Despite having played for several clubs, the striker left his mark on Flamengo , where he won the 2013 Copa do Brasil and the 2014 Carioca Championship. With the Manto, he played 86 matches and scored 45 goals.

Since Luiz Eduardo Baptista took office as president, Flamengo has been fighting for a more advantageous division within Libra . However, the club has been unable to reach an agreement with the other members of the bloc and estimates a loss of approximately R$100 million from 2024 to 2025, while its rivals have come out ahead. The contract signed between Libra and Globo provides for a payment of R$1.170 billion to the Série A clubs, plus a share of R$100 million to R$200 million in pay-per-view , depending on total revenue.
Sharing follows the following model:
The point of contention lies in the audience distribution. In games like Flamengo vs. Vitória, for example, the criteria establishes that the ratings are split 50-50 , even though the majority of the audience is driven by the red-and-black side.
Flamengo attempted to change the rule, proposing adjustments that could increase its revenue by up to R$23 million , but there was no consensus. According to journalist Rodrigo Mattos, the other clubs refused to give up the funds that would have been allocated to them.
Without an agreement, Flamengo notified Globo and other members of the bloc, requesting a suspension of distribution until a standard distribution is established. The club believes the current pay-per-view rules are confusing and lack well-established parameters.
On one hand, Flamengo believes that changes could only take effect starting in 2026. On the other, Libra accuses the club of intransigence , claiming it tried to impose immediate changes. According to Flamengo's accounts, TV revenue, which ranged between R$290 million and R$300 million in 2024, is expected to fall to R$190 million to R$200 million in 2025.
The crisis has completely damaged the relationship between Flamengo and Libra. Although the club is not considering leaving the bloc, it already considers it unlikely that it will negotiate new contracts together. The dispute, however, is far from over and is expected to yield new chapters in the coming months.
