Flamengo is closely monitoring the progress of Erick Pulgar , who is recovering from a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot. According to journalist Gabriel Reis of the Paparazzo Rubro-Negro channel, the Chilean midfielder is in the final stages of treatment and should be included in the squad soon.

Initial predictions indicate that Pulgar may be available to Filipe Luís for the match against Cruzeiro on October 2nd at Maracanã. However, the most likely scenario is that he will return for the match against Bahia in Salvador, scheduled for October 5th.

CLUB MAINTAINS CAUTION

Pulgar was injured during the Club World Cup against Bayern Munich and has not played for Flamengo since. A fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot is a serious injury that has affected other elite athletes , such as Neymar in 2018, and requires a careful rehabilitation process to prevent recurrence.

The club's medical department is taking caution not to rush the player's return, ensuring that he is fully recovered to support the decisive part of the season.

IMPORTANT FEEDBACK

Should Flamengo eliminate Estudiantes and advance to the Copa Libertadores semifinals, Pulgar is expected to be available to reinforce the team for the decisive matches. The Chilean's return is considered strategic to strengthen the Flamengo midfield , which faces a busy schedule in the Brasileirão and the continental competition.

Estudiantes coach Eduardo Domínguez has previewed the decisive match against Flamengo, scheduled for next Thursday (25), at the UNO Stadium in La Plata. On Monday night (22), after the 1-0 victory over Defensa y Justicia in the Argentine Championship , the coach gave a press conference to comment on the team's preparation and recent controversies.

When asked about CONMEBOL 's overturning of Gonzalo Plata's red card, which cleared the player to play in the match, Domínguez declined to elaborate. " We have to focus on getting through the series. There's no point in talking now about whether he deserved to be sent off earlier or not. The highest authority is CONMEBOL," the coach said, avoiding direct criticism of the organization.

Despite his caution, Domínguez didn't fail to mention Flamengo's influence off the field. "They're a powerful team and have the tools to speak up and apply pressure. And let them speak up. I'm focused on working and demonstrating with our fans ," he stated, also refuting what he called "made-up stories" in the press about the first leg at Maracanã.

TRUST IN THE STRENGTH OF STUDENTS

While acknowledging the quality of the Flamengo squad, Domínguez highlighted the small aggregate score difference— Flamengo won 2-1 in Rio de Janeiro —and reinforced his confidence in Estudiantes' performance at home. "With all their power, we're just one goal behind. We have to study what we did and what we can improve. It will be a very competitive match, and we're strong at home," he emphasized.

TACTICAL ANALYSIS AND EXPECTATION

Domínguez believes Flamengo won't go to La Plata just to defend. " They'll come to defend the result, but they'll also want to have the ball and attack. We believe we know how we have to defend ourselves," analyzed the coach, expressing optimism about the strategy outlined for the decisive Libertadores quarterfinal match.
