Gerson will be a starter for the Brazilian team in the match against Peru, this Tuesday (15), at 9:45 pm, at the Mané Garrincha stadium, valid for 10th round of the World Cup Qualifiers. Gerson, who played 48 games for Flamengo this season, 42 as a starter, has four goals and seven assists. However, his performances stand out mainly for his ability to command the Red and Black midfield, playing in different roles. This makes him an interesting solution for the Selection, according to Kfouri's analysis.
“If Gerson starts playing in the national team what he has played in Flamengo, we found a good solution for our midfield”, he added.
Called up for the second time by Dorival Júnior, Gerson has participated in all of the team's games so far, coming off the bench against Ecuador, Paraguay and Chile. Now, he should start for the first time with Dorival. Throughout his career with the Seleção, the Flamengo midfielder has played eight games, with a single appearance as a starter, in the 3-1 victory over Venezuela.
Brazil's likely lineup to face Peru is: Ederson, Vanderson, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães and Abner; Bruno Guimarães, Gersonand Rodrygo; Raphinha, Igor Jesus and Savinho. It is worth noting that defender Fabrício Bruno, also from Flamengo, was called up and will be available on the bench.
Possible absences in Flamengo
In addition to Gerson and Fabrício, five other Flamengo players were called upby their teams on this FIFA Date: Arrascaeta, Varela and De La Cruz (Uruguay), Erick Pulgar ( Chile) and Gonzalo Plata (Ecuador). They all have commitments this Tuesday, including the duel between Uruguay and Ecuador, which involves the red and black athletes.

On Thursday night (September 18), Flamengo and Estudiantes face each other at Maracanã , in Rio de Janeiro, for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores 2025. The ball rolls at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), with exclusive broadcast on ESPN and Disney+.
Coach Eduardo Domínguez acknowledges the difficulty of the match, but is confident in the Argentine team's ability to achieve a good result away from home. Estudiantes arrives with high morale: they had a solid campaign in the group stage and eliminated Cerro Porteño in the round of 16 , with three away wins and only one loss, against Botafogo.
