The president of Flamengo participated in the podcast “Fala, João!”, this Thursday (27). The Rubro-Negro representative spoke about various topics during more than 90 minutes of conversation. One of the topics discussed was the departure of coach Dorival Júnior, at the end of the 2022 season. Landim assured that he really likes the current coach of the Seleção, but that there was no financial agreement.
Presenter and narrator João Guilherme did not missed the opportunity to ask why Dorival, champion of the Libertadores and Copa do Brasil, did not remain in 2023. Landim was direct: “When he arrived, his salary was almost the same as that of Ceará, but with big prizes in cases of victories and winning championships. His remuneration for each championship won was much higher than what he received in salary during the period he worked with us.”
In the same response, Landim revealed that at the time of the renewal, Dorival wanted a new model of contract. The president said:

I know he's a professional and wouldn't do that, but the incentives were misallocated. I didn't want a contract that if I fired early, I would have to pay salaries until the end.”

Flamengo and Lazio advanced in negotiations to sign midfielder Marcos Antônio. Marcos Antônio, 24 years old, is a creation of Athletico-PR's youth teams and a contemporary of Vini Jr in the youth teams. The midfielder has spent time at Estoril, in Portugal, and Shakhtar Donetsk, in Ukraine. He was bought by Lazio in 2023 and loaned to PAOK, from Greece, last season, where he was national champion.
