Flamengo saw an improvement in the performance of full-backs Wesley and Alex Sandro after the arrival of Filipe Luísat the helm of the team . The coach, who hung up his boots last year, played as a left-back throughout his career and even played for the Brazilian national team.

Wesley in the team?

Filipe Luís took over the team at the end of September. He held the position after Tite's dismissal and led the team in 10 matches so far. In this sense, Wesley has been one of the team's highlights. The right-back did well, for example, in the Copa do Brasil final games and suffered the penalty against Galo last Wednesday, for the Brazilian Championship.

Wesley has characteristics that offer a lot to the team, both offensively and defensively. These are characteristics that we have to enhance depending on the game, and providing functions so that it can explore more and more. (...). I see no limits to growth. You have the level to one day play for a big team in Europe, be in the national team, said Filipe Luís, after the first game of the Copa do Brasil final

The young man was praised by Leandro, one of the great full-backs in the history of Rubro-Negro. The 'Fried fish', as he is also known, told the club's official TV that Wesley "today is a much more complete player than when he started, confident, participative and with personality".

Fans ask the full-back in the Brazilian national team. On social media, there were several messages that pointed out that Wesley deserved a chance on Dorival Júnior's list. Under the command of Filipe Luís, the player had an average rating of 6.0 on the Footstats platform.

The player is the leader of Fla's tackles in the Brazilian Championship. He has an average of 88.8% and also appears in the Top5 for crosses, interceptions and hits, according to Footstats.

Alex Sandro adapted quickly

On the left wing, Alex Sandro is also in good form. The only goal he scored with the red-black shirt was against Corinthians, in the 1-0 victory in the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil, a game that marked Filipe Luís' debut on the pitch for the professional team.

Shirt number 26 has also played in another role. Against Atlético-MG, last Wednesday, for example, he played as a defender, forming a sector with Fabrício Bruno and David Luiz.

Alex Sandro adapted quickly. He was one of the reinforcements in the mid-year transfer window, and the deal came after Viña's injury.

Ayrton Lucas , however, seeks to return to the good moment. The player has already had some opportunities with the current coach, but is still trying to achieve his best streak. The coach himself pointed out that "Ayrton is not going through his best moment".

Player lives in phases. Obviously, Alex Sandro had been playing in important matches. I believe that the player, to perform at his best, needs minutes, minutes and minutes. Ayrton is not going through his best moment, I could say that. But the scheme today favored him, but we attacked a lot on the right side because Wesley, yes, is in a great phase. So, it didn't favor him as much and favored Wesley more. But he did his job well, he entered the box when he had to, he scored when he had to score. Of course we know that this is not the best version of Ayrton, said Filipe Luís

In a press conference at Ninho do Urubu, goalkeeper Agustín Rossi spoke about his desire to be called up to the Argentina national team , the current world champion. Despite his dream, the goalkeeper made it clear that his priority remains Flamengo.

Rossi on his dream of joining the Argentine national team: "My job is for Flamengo"

"Obviously, I've always wanted to be called up. I think Brazilian football is very strong, not only in South America, but worldwide as well. In the last call-up, there were players from here. But I'm not thinking about that right now . I think that if I do my job well, that call-up could come," Rossi stated.

TOTAL FOCUS ON FLAMENGO

The Argentine stressed that he keeps his feet on the ground and that his main goal is to continue showing consistency for the Rubro-Negro , who have the best defense in the Brasileirão, conceding only 10 goals in 22 games. At Maracanã, the Mais Querido conceded only three goals.

"I'm in no rush, because my job is for Flamengo , day to day, game to game. My biggest focus is to maintain this streak so that the call-up can come. Of course I have that desire, but I don't treat it as a requirement . I'm Flamengo's goalkeeper, I'm responsible for Flamengo. If the call-up comes, I'll welcome it," he added.

INCOME AND TITLES WITH THE MANTLE

Since joining Flamengo in 2023, Rossi has already won four titles. Last season, he was a key player in the undefeated Carioca Championship and also played in the Copa do Brasil victory. In 2025, he maintained his starting spot in the Supercopa do Brasil and the Campeonato Estadual . In total, he has represented Flamengo in 125 official matches, establishing himself as a pillar of the team.
