“You have to be patient”, says the deputy director of Flamengo, responding to Jorge Sampaoli

Flamengo's deputy director of football responded to criticisms leveled at the stadium by Jorge Sampaoli, the team's coach. Comments on the Maracanã have been made due to the poor quality of the pitch. The situation began to be discussed after Gabigol suffered an injury when he stumbled into a hole in the synthetic grass.
Marcos Braz was asked by the Press about what he thought of the criticism directed at Maracanã. The club's deputy director of football understands coach Jorge Sampaoli's remarks, explaining that the lawn has not been able to recover for over a month. However, he points out something important: “the problem (...) is the number of games.”
Braz believes that the problem with the venue, which has hosted several extremely important events, is not investment. Sampaoli said at a press conference on Wednesday (05) that the stadium should already be on a par with stadiums in Europe for big teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona due to the deep history it carries.
“The problem is mathematical”, concludes Marcos Braz, acknowledging that the criticism will continue as long as the high number of games at Maraca continues. “We try, continue, to try to minimize the condition of the lawn, but we will have to be patient. We don't think about removing any short-term games from Maracanã”, he said.
The condition of the field was even the subject of discussion between Marcos Braz and Gabigol, who was injured because of holes in the lawn. The incident - both the fight and the injury - happened in the game between Flamengo and Fortaleza last Saturday (01).
