Jorge Sampaoli has the honor of being Flamengo's coach, but that's certainly not the only reason he's on the team. Mais Querido, as one of the biggest clubs in Brazil and the one that earns the most annually, has the practice of paying well the collaborators who 'fight' at the front. The coach is in second place in the 'salary ranking' of the Brazilian Championship, with a higher income even than that of the club's stars.
The Argentine receives 2 million reais in his account every new month. Having been at the club since April this year, it is estimated that he has already accumulated around 10 million reais so far. However, the coach's time is numbered training the red and black, as the squad's performance has not met the board's expectations. It has already been confirmed that Sampaoli will not be with Fla in the 2024 season, so he only has a few more months to 'enjoy' his fat salary.
'Tied' with Sampaoli is another foreigner, but who has really pleased his audience: Bruno Lage. The Portuguese is ahead of Botafogo, who is the leader of the Brasileirão and, even though he was recently eliminated from the South American Cup, he has not raised much discord. This is because the Alvinegro squad, in general, is not as 'valuable' as the Flamengo squad, which shows how the athletes and the coach himself have been trying hard to get the most out of it and do what many thought was impossible.
Above the two coaches is Abel Ferreira. The Palmeiras commander receives around 2.8 million reais every month. Abel has also done a job that has pleased the management of the São Paulo team. They hold on to second place in the Brazilian Championship, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil and will also compete in the semifinals of the Libertadores.
Check out the complete salary ranking that the 20 Brasileirão Series A coaches receive monthly:
1. Abel Ferreira (Palmeiras) - R$ 2.8 million per month
2. Sampaoli (Flamengo) and Bruno Lage (Botafogo) - R$ 2 million
3. Dorival Júnior (São Paulo) and Renato Gaúcho (Grêmio) - R$ 1.2 million
4. Fernando Diniz (Fluminense) - R$ 800 thousand
5. Eduardo Coudet (Internacional) and Felipão (Atlético-MG) - R$ 700 thousand
6. Luxembourg (Corinthians), Ramón Díaz (Vasco) and Vojvoda (Fortaleza) - R$ 500 thousand
7. Aguirre (Santos) - R$ 400 thousand
8. Renato Paiva (ex-Bahia) - R$ 350 thousand
9. António Oliveira (Cuiabá) - R$ 300 thousand
10. Pedro Caixinha (Red Bull Bragantino) - R$ 290 thousand
11. Fabián Bustos (América-MG) - R$ 280 thousand
12. Armando Evangelista (Goiás) - R$ 200 thousand
13. Zé Ricardo (Cruzeiro) - R$ 180 thousand
14. Wesley Carvalho (Athletico) - R$ 120 thousand
15. Thiago Kosloski (Coritiba) - R$ 100 thousand

Uruguayan gave a press conference at Ninho do Urubu and spoke about the problems of unprepared professionals at the club
16 Ago 2025 | 19:00 |
Friday (15) was marked by a press conference with Arrascaeta, at Ninho do Urubu. The Uruguayan midfielder made strong statements about the club's backstage and even repeated a famous phrase from Jorge Jesus, the Portuguese coach who marked an era at Flamengo.
Arrascaeta quotes Jorge Jesus: "Flamengo only loses to itself"
Without directly mentioning the coach, Arrascaeta emphasized that internal problems often harm the club's atmosphere . The Uruguayan also made it clear that he will always stand by his teammates in situations where unprepared professionals could harm them:
"I often tell my friends that Flamengo only loses to itself, because it's difficult to explain some of the things that happen here. Sometimes it's due to a lack of capacity from people who don't realize the size of the club or who aren't used to dealing with this pressure . But when you have experienced and respected players like Alex Sandro, Bruno, Nico, Viña, and so many others, the group becomes stronger," said the number 10.
"Whatever happens outside won't affect our squad. We'll always be together. When something happens to a teammate, we'll be here to help," Arrascaeta assured. The statement alludes to the controversy surrounding former doctor José Luiz Runco, who was fired after exposing details of De La Cruz's physical condition , claiming the Uruguayan was living with an irreversible chronic injury.
At the time, Arrascaeta posted a photo alongside De La Cruz, accompanied by the message: " It's about taking care of our own. It's that simple ." The gesture was interpreted as a dig at the former professional, as well as a pat on the back for his club and national team friend.
Now, at the press conference, the number 10 reinforced the importance of squad unity in the face of external turbulence: "Regardless of who it is, Nico or another player, we have to be together. It's very difficult to stay focused on the field when these situations happen. But I've been here for six years and I know that Flamengo always experiences moments like this. Our role is to keep ourselves in the locker room so that this doesn't affect us, even though some situations are very difficult," he concluded.

Before the Libertadores game, Flamengo and Internacional will face each other this Sunday (17), for the Brazilian Championship, also at Beira-Rio. The match will be a thermometer for what Filipe Luís' team will find days later , both on the field and in the pressure of the stands.
For Flamengo , facing packed stadiums is nothing new. The Rubro-Negro, accustomed to large crowds, played the first leg in front of nearly 70,000 people at Maracanã , winning 1-0 with a goal from Bruno Henrique after a superb cross from Luiz Araújo.
