The latest contacts between the parties took place last week, when the French club agreed to pay the 625 thousand euros relating to the solidarity mechanism that would be paid to Cruzeiro and Chapecoense. The verbal agreement, in turn, was not turned into a document and the last few days have been filled with anticipation for a move by Rennes.
Although talks continued, the only official proposal was presented on July 30 by the French and immediately refused on August 1st by the red and black. The offer was a fixed 12.5 million euros, in addition to a bonus of 1.5 million euros for 90% of the player's economic rights.
Faye's signing took Flamengo and those involved in the negotiation by surprise. Fabrício Bruno was a priority for the French at the opening of the window, but the back and forth of negotiations meant that Rennes signed the Norwegian Leo Ostigard, from Napoli, and now Mika Faye from Barcelona.
Internally, Flamengo and intermediaries hope that the French club moves until the beginning of the next season to understand the stage of negotiations, which are currently frozen. Meanwhile, Fabrício Bruno continues as Tite's starter and will be on the field this Thursday, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), to face Bolívar, in La Paz, in the round of 16 of the Libertadores.
