Flamengo's first and only signing so far for 2024, De La Cruz arrived in Rio de Janeiro this Tuesday (09). Accompanied by his family, the Uruguayan midfielder told some details about his personal life and revealed inspiration for the challenge at Rubro-Negro.
"Yes, we were observing (the city, from the plane), looking a little. I I had already been here, but the family hadn't. Well, the most important thing is to see my daughters' happiness in a new beginning. That's what inspires me too and motivates me to do my best and, obviously, I want to win", he revealed De La Cruz, in an interview with FlaTV still in the arrivals hall at Galeão Airport.
At another point during arrival, the midfielder also spoke about his expectation of wearing the Flamengo shirt. Once again, De La Cruz made it clear that the family's desire was fundamental in refusing other proposals and accepting Rubro-Negro.
"First of all, thank you very much, good afternoon. Many expectations. Very happy to getting here, getting to Brazil. I really wanted to get here and meet everyone, my companions. I'm very happy. There were other proposals, but we decided to land here with my family. It's a very important life project for us too, Being in a team as big as Flamengo, we are very happy", said De La Cruz to FlaTV.
De La Cruz arrived in Rio de Janeiro on a chartered flight. After the peaceful trip, Mengo's new reinforcement quickly responded to the fans present. This is because, around 20 red and black people went to the airport's main hall to have their first contact with the Uruguayan player.

The climate between Gabigol and the board of Flamengo went cold after a photo of the striker wearing a Corinthians shirt was leaked. The player was punished and is now banned from using Gávea's 10 in the Copa do Brasil and Brasileirão.
