Nova Iguaçu full-back Cayo Tenório was suspended for three matches by the Rio de Janeiro Court of Sports Justice, this Thursday, for a tackle he made on striker Rossi. The move took place in the match between Nova Iguaçu and Vasco, on January 31st. With the punishment of three games, he will not face Flamengo, this Sunday (07), in the Carioca final.
"By majority vote, the prosecutor's appeal was heard and on merit it was granted to apply to the athlete Cayo Henrique Nascimento Ferreira, from Nova Iguaçu FC, the suspension of 03 (three) games, regarding the imputation of article 254 §1º I of the CBJD. Vote defeated by Dr. Dilson Neves who was aware of the appeal and dismissed it , maintaining the decision applied by the 5th CDR", wrote the institution.
In the same game, Gabriel Pinheiro, from Nova Iguaçu, was also reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Sports Justice of Rio de Janeiro (TJD-RJ) for another harsh tackle on Rossi, a Vasco player. The defender was acquitted. In both plays, referee João Marcos Gonçalves Fernandes did not even call a foul. The referee was also acquitted by the TJD. Shortly after the match, he had already been removed by Ferj.
