Rubro-Negro stays in fifth place with a draw at Neo Química Arena

Flamengo drew 1-1 with Corinthians at Neo Quimica Arena. Gerson opened the scoring for Rubro-Negro, and Fábio Santos, with a penalty, equalized. Interim coach Mário Jorge analyzed the performance in the draw.
- We had good control of the game, we managed to control possession well. After the draw, it's a lose win, there's that counterattack on top of counterattack. Overall, I think what we structured for the game worked.
Mário Jorge also spoke about Tite and the things the new coach can do
- In the game against Bahia we diagnosed some things. Mainly our high block of trying to work a little more, to control the ball more and finish the plays a little better. We deal with it case by case. We deal with construction, post-loss moments and some team behaviors. We will try to develop this in the best possible way. Regarding continuity or not and the arrival of Professor Tite or not, the club is dealing with it internally. My mission is to be ready when the club needs it.
Flamengo only enters the field on October 19th, due to the FIFA date week. The coach in the duel against Cruzeiro, at Mineirão, will probably be Tite.
The teams play the first game of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.

Alex Sandro and Plata, debutants in last Sunday's classic, remain in the team after having good performances in the draw against Vasco. Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. "The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."
