Palmeiras faced a setback in the championship when they were defeated 2-0 by Athletico-PR this Sunday (12), in a match held at Arena Barueri. The change of location, motivated by a musical event at Allianz Parque, generated discontent and criticism from coach Abel Ferreira.

The usual stadium of Palmeiras was not available due to a concert by singer Louis Tomlinson, former member of One Direction, held on Friday (10). The decision by the club president, Leila Pereira, to opt for Arena Barueri as an alternative was not well received by the team.

Comparison with Flamengo in 2023

Abel Ferreira brought up the example of Flamengo, which in 2023 faced a similar situation before the Libertadores final, choosing not to give up Maracanã.

"If you have doubts about what I say, Conmebol, in Last year, the Libertadores final was held at Maracanã and you saw very well that Flamengo didn't want to leave for anything, they had to reach an agreement and didn't want to play away," highlighted Abel, highlighting the importance of local support.

Competitive issue in Abel Ferreira's view

The coach criticized the decision not to use Allianz Parque, pointing out how this puts Palmeiras at a disadvantage in the championships. "The problem is how we, who fight for titles, can't play at our home. The problem is Allianz. How is it possible for us not to play at Allianz Parque? Therefore, if we don't play at Allianz, they don't charge us to be champions ," concluded Abel, highlighting the difficulties added by the lack of access to the usual stadium.

Forward Gonzalo Mastriani, currently at Athletico-PR, is going through a period of dissatisfaction at the club due to the lack of minutes on the field. This discontent could result in the player leaving in the next transfer window, if a proposal emerges that pleases both parties. The Furacão board has already shown itself willing to negotiate the athlete, considering the possibility of his transfer.

The dissatisfaction of Mastriani is not an isolated case in the world of football, where the search for more playing time and opportunities to showcase one's talent is common among athletes. In the case of the Uruguayan striker, this issue has become increasingly evident, leading him to consider alternatives for his career.

CAN YOU CONTINUE IN BRAZIL?

Athletico-PR, in turn, he is open to dialogue and find a solution that is beneficial for both the player and the club.Gonzalo's situation Mastriani reflects a recurring scenario in professional football, where competition for positions and the need to remain active and visible in the market are constant.

Players who don't get the playing time they want often look for new opportunities, where they can have more chances to play and, consequently, enhance their careers. For Athletico-PR, the willingness to negotiate Mastriani is a way of maintaining a satisfactory and motivating environment for the athletes who make up its squad.
