After spending the first day of the medal competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games blank, Team Brazil provided three celebrations in a very short space of time this Sunday. In 17 minutes, Brazilian fans were thrilled with the bronze medals won by Rayssa Leal in skateboarding and by judoka Larissa Pimenta in the under-52 kg category, in addition to the silver by Willian Lima, also in judo, among competitors up to 66 kg.

The simultaneous events divided attention on official TV broadcasts and caused anxiety in those who followed. The biggest drama was in the skateboarding competition, in which Rayssa Leal was lower than expected in her score in the lap stage and showed difficulties in recovering in the individual maneuvers phase.

While the 16-year-old from Maranhão struggled to reach the marks of his opponents, stationed in fifth place, Willian Lima was defeated in the judo final, at Arena Campo de Marte. The judoka's medal was already guaranteed, the color remained to be seen.

Lima was not on the list of favorites before the start of the event in the French capital, but he overcame strong opponents to reach the decision. The São Paulo native from Mogi das Cruzes lost the gold to the Japanese Hifumi Abe, now two-time Olympic champion, at 1:01 pm (Brasília time), and took the silver.

During the final, he was unable to land his shots and saw the Japanese being more aggressive. It didn't take long for the first wazari in Abe's favor. Shortly afterwards, another wazari confirmed the Brazilian's defeat on the French mat.

At the La Concorde Arena, where the extreme sports and breaking events are held, Rayssa continued her battle against nervousness. When the woman from Maranhão was waiting for the performance of the other competitors after taking third place, another Brazilian medal came out at Arena Campo de Marte. At 1:17 pm, Larissa Pimenta took the bronze after overcoming the Italian Odette Giuffrida after a campaign of overcoming.

Throughout the fight with the Italian, Larissa was the one closest to landing blows. However, the fight was even, and the Brazilian received two punishments. The tie persisted, leading to the bronze medal being decided by the golden score. Even with more breath, Larissa was unable to land the blow, but her opponent received three punishments and was defeated.

One minute after Pimenta's conquest, at 1:18 p.m., Rayssa Leal's bronze was confirmed, who was burst into tears upon hearing the news. In the middle of these 17 minutes of achievements, Ana Sátila hit the beam in the K1 canoe slalom competition and finished in fourth place, but will still compete in the canoe (C1) and kayak cross events.
