At the Paris Olympic Games, Brazilian Luiz Maurício da Silva represented Brazil in the javelin throw final. However, the athlete was only in 11th place, with a mark of 80.67 m.

It is worth noting that Luiz qualified for the final in 4th place, after throwing at a distance of 85.91 m, breaking his own South American record, previously 85.57 m. Furthermore, Luiz Maurício also ended a 92-year fast without the presence of a Brazilian in the final of the sport.

In the grand final, Luiz Maurício's first throw was at the 80.67 m mark. As a result, in the first series of throws, the Brazilian finished in 5th place, out of 12 finalists.

In the second series, Pakistani Arshad Nadeem made history and broke the Olympic record by throwing the javelin a distance of 92.97 m. Meanwhile, Luiz Maurício finished the series in 10th after failing to increase the mark from his first attempt, throwing 78.67 m.

In the third and final attempt, the Brazilian burned out and was unable to finish among the top eight, leaving in 11th place. Therefore, Luiz did not have the chance to throw three more times and ended his participation in the Paris Olympic Games without the javelin throw medal.

The gold went to Arshad Nadeem, from Pakistan, being the country's first gold medal in the history of the sport. Meanwhile, Indian Neeraj Chopra, who was the big favorite in the sport, took silver, and Anderson Peters, from Granada, took bronze.

Created by Flamengo and considered one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, Lucas Paquetá does not hide his love for Mais Querido. Now, the player tries to pass on this red-black passion to the next generation. Thus, the athlete appeared in a video on social media teaching his son to sing the Mengo anthem.

In images published on social media by Lucas Paquetá's wife, which were reposted by the athlete, he appears at a moment relaxing with his family and helping his son sing the Flamengo anthem, even joking: “you have to sing it all”.

SOUNDED BY FLAMENGO

It is worth remembering that Lucas Paquetá was one of the names desired by the Red and Black board in the last transfer window. The midfielder is linked to West Ham (ING), but is experiencing a turbulent situation in England. This is because the midfielder is being investigated by the English Federation (FA) for "misconduct in relation to betting" in four Premier League matches.

Thus, Mais Querido even tried to convince the English team that a change of scenery would be positive for the player. However, West Ham did not accept the values proposed by Flamengo and the negotiation did not progress.

DECISION AT LIBERTADORES

Most Querido is focused on the confrontation against Peñarol, in the Libertadores quarter-finals. Therefore, Flamengo faces the Uruguayans this Thursday (19), at 7pm, at Maracanã.

One of the great highlights of Brazilian athletics at the Paris Olympic Games is Luiz Maurício Dias. Finalist in the javelin throw, after achieving the mark of 85m91 and establishing the new South American record for the sport, the athlete has the chance to fight for a medal for Brazil in the French capital. Luiz Maurício Dias, who is an athlete for Praia Clube and the Brazilian Army, will compete in the athletics final this Thursday (08), starting at 3:25 pm (Brasília time).

One of the dreams of many children in Brazil is to become a football player, and Luiz Maurício was no exception to this rule. As a child, between 10 and 11 years old, he joined the football schools of Tupi, the champion club of Series D of the Brasileirão in 2011 and with titles at state level.

The focus on sport changed later that a group of friends had the idea of inviting Luiz Maurício to watch an athletics training session. He fell in love with the sport and never returned to the field or the ball. Luiz's mother, Cláudia Dias, said that she was against her son's decision at first, but due to the father's intervention and her son's wishes, she gave in and accepted the boy's move to the new sport. “I went to pick up Luiz from training and he wasn’t there. I was worried. Then he told me that he had gone to athletics with his friends and that he liked it. I fought with him, I told him that what made money was football, that I was chasing it so he could have a better life”, he said.

In 2012, Luiz Maurício began his career in athletics in the Cria UFJF project, at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, where he did all the basics and won titles in the javelin throw until 2020. Amidst the coronavirus pandemic Covid-19, he needed to train on the street and at home to maintain his physical and technical shape. With an invitation from the Brazilian Army in hand, he decided to accept and joined the Ministry of Defense's High Performance Program. In February 2024, he agreed with Praia Clube, from Uberlândia, which has the second largest delegation of athletes from Brazil in this edition of the Olympic Games.

Minas Gerais city close to the border with the state of Rio de Janeiro, Juiz de Fora is a stronghold of Flamengo fans. Passionate about the Gávea club and a fan of Gabigol, Luiz Maurício often takes photos with the red-black shirt. Although supporting the Rio club was a childhood love, his ties with Flamengo became even closer after 2020. Going to the Army and carrying out training in Rio de Janeiro physically brought Luiz Maurício closer to the team and made his journey easier. from him to Maracanã to support the Rio team.
