The opposition group Frente Flamengo Maior, which came third in Flamengo's last presidential election with Walter Monteiro, launched this Friday (24) a ten-point manifesto defending unity around a platform whose main point is resistance to Flamengo's possible transformation into SAF (Sociedade Anônima de Futebol) after the December elections.
“The election at Flamengo cannot be an exclusive dispute between representatives of the current board. In search of unity among those who resist the growing elitization of Flamengo and the threats of transformation into SAF, the Frente Flamengo Maior launches the 10 Points Manifesto, calling on all Flamengo associates and fans to unite around a project that preserves the Rubro-Negra Nation as a popular club without owners. #SAFJAMAIS“, the group posted on its profile.
To date, no opposition candidate has launched itself to succeed Rodolfo Landim. Vice-president Rodrigo Dunshee de Abranches has already publicly declared his intention to run as the current candidate, but is competing for internal preference with the president of the Board of Directors, Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap). Former vice-president of Embassies Maurício Gomes de Mattos also left his position to enter the dispute.
