This Friday (25) the English Football Association (FA) will release the verdict of the trial of Lucas Paquetá , who could be banned from the sport due to manipulation of sports betting results. However, recent information indicates that the midfielder should be acquitted , which left Flamengo fans in an uproar, calling for the return of the young player.
The hashtag "Paquetá no Flamengo" reached the top of the trending topics on X (formerly Twitter). The club's football director, José Boto, has openly stated that signing the midfielder is a dream, but he wouldn't rule out an offer once the player's legal situation with the English courts is resolved .
If his innocence is officially confirmed, there is an internal agreement at West Ham to negotiate the player's release. The English club has set a price of €40 million (approximately R$260 million) to release the midfielder. Aware of the high cost, Flamengo is expected to attempt to renegotiate the amount to make the deal viable.
In May 2024, the Football Association (FA) charged Paquetá with four violations of Rule E5.1, which addresses attempts to manipulate results or events within matches. The FA alleged that the player attempted to interfere with the progress of Premier League matches by deliberately seeking to receive yellow cards to benefit the betting market.
The matches investigated were against Leicester City (12/11/2022), Aston Villa (12/03/2023), Leeds United (21/05/2023) and Bournemouth (12/08/2023). In all of these matches, the Brazilian received warnings from the referee. In addition to the breaches of Rule E5.1, Lucas Paquetá was also charged with two breaches of Rule F3 , for alleged misconduct in answering questions and providing documentation to the FA's investigation.
The full-back was in agreement with Mengão in the last few months, but reached an agreement and will remain with the red-black shirt for another two years.

Flamengo officially renewed Guillermo Varela's contract until December 2027 this Friday (15), as previously reported by Gazeta do Urubu. . The signing took place at Ninho do Urubu, with the presence of the football technical director, José Boto.
An important player for Filipe Luís in 2025, Varela has played 35 games this season, starting 21 of them, scoring one goal and providing three assists. His versatility, also playing as a left-back and defensive midfielder, reinforces his value to the coaching staff.
