Agustín Rossi remains one of the main figures in Flamengo's squad, but talks about a contract renewal are only expected to take place in 2026. The Flamengo board decided to postpone the negotiations, as the goalkeeper's current contract is valid until December 2027 , allowing for more relaxed planning for both parties.
Meanwhile, the Rio de Janeiro club has supported the athlete's naturalization process, as he seeks Brazilian citizenship. The board believes this step could make Rossi's personal life easier and contribute to roster planning , especially regarding the number of foreign players available.
At 30 years old, Rossi is considered a key player in Filipe Luís's team. In recent weeks, the Argentine goalkeeper has had standout performances, saving three penalties in Libertadores and Brasileirão matches. The Gazeta do Urubu website spoke with a source close to Flamengo about rumors that negotiations for Filipe Luís's contract renewal have been halted following the team's recent results. The response, however, was blunt: " No. His renewal is very advanced, close to completion ."
The coach's contract is expected to be extended until the end of 2027 , reinforcing the board's confidence in his work. Furthermore, the former player will receive a significant salary increase, as his salary is still that of an 'interim coach.'
Since taking over as Flamengo 's coach, Filipe Luís has already won three important titles: the Copa do Brasil in 2024, as well as the Supercopa do Brasil and the Campeonato Carioca in 2025. Rubro-Negro is also still in the fight for more trophies this season , leading the Brasileirão for a good part of it and qualified for the Libertadores semi-finals.

Midfielder Éverton Ribeiro, currently at Bahia , revealed this Monday (6) that he underwent surgery to treat thyroid cancer. The 36-year-old player shared the news on his social media, informing that the procedure was successful and that he will now continue the recovery process.
The diagnosis was made about a month ago. Even after learning of the disease, the athlete remained active and played eight matches for Tricolor de Aço , including the final of the Copa do Nordeste, the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil and six rounds of the Brazilian Championship. The midfielder's last appearance on the field was against Flamengo , his former club, last Sunday (5).
Éverton Ribeiro arrived at Bahia last season, after ending a successful seven-year stint at Flamengo, where he won 11 titles and became one of the main names in the red-black squad.
Throughout his career, the player also represented Corinthians , São Caetano, Coritiba, Cruzeiro, and Al-Ahli in the United Arab Emirates. His leadership and consistency on the field made him a reference both on and off the field.
In a social media post, Éverton Ribeiro thanked everyone for their support and emphasized his faith in recovery: “Hi, friends. I need to share some news with you. About a month ago, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Today I had surgery, and everything went well, thank God. I'm still recovering, with faith and the support of my family and you. Thank you for every prayer and affection. Having you by my side makes all the difference.”
