The Flamengo player who felt most at home in the match against LDU in Quito was Gonzalo Plata . Having emerged in Ecuadorian football, the striker regretted not being able to play in front of his fans at the Casa Blanca Stadium , where the Rubro-Negro drew 0-0 in the third round of the Libertadores group stage.

“My people were there, they know what I felt, that I really wanted to play here , in front of the fans who always support me with the national team. I was very sad, upset. My family was here at the stadium. So, I really wanted to play ,” Plata said.

Banned due to knee pain, the number 19 explained that he was unable to force his leg , but reassured the fans about the severity of the injury, stating that he believes he will be available on Sunday (27) , when Mais Querido faces Corinthians in the Brasileirão .

“I couldn’t push my knee, so I was sad about that. But I’m calm because it wasn’t anything serious and I’ll be ready for the next game. I believe so (that I can play against Corinthians), I’ll do whatever it takes to be ready for that game,” he said.

REUNION AND TALK WITH THE NATIONAL TEAM COACH

Even though he was out of the match, Plata took advantage of his time in Quito to meet up with the coach of the Ecuadorian national team , Sebastián Beccacece . Together, they watched the game and talked about the World Cup qualifiers and the national team's upcoming commitments.

“I was able to accompany the ‘profe’, we talked a little about everything . I was happy to meet him. We talked about the national team, we thought about the upcoming qualifying dates. Regarding the Flamengo game, our team is not used to playing at altitude . LDU doesn’t get tired here, they have a lot of strength . I think this point was very good considering the group stage of the Libertadores”, highlighted the striker.

QUESTION FOR SUNDAY

With Plata still under observation, Flamengo returns to Rio de Janeiro this Wednesday (23). The next challenge will be on Sunday (27), against Corinthians , for the Brasileirão. The match will be at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã. Mengão wants the victory to return to the championship leadership, currently held by Palmeiras.

Palmeiras gave Internacional no chance and won 4-1 this Saturday (13), in a match valid for the Brazilian Championship. The big name of the night was striker Vitor Roque , who scored three goals. With the result, the São Paulo team reaches the same 21 games as the leader Flamengo and puts itself in the fight for the top of the table.

From the opening whistle, Abel Ferreira's team exerted intense pressure and opened the scoring after just three minutes. After a corner kick, Felipe Anderson pounced on the loose ball and passed it to Vitor Roque, who finished with precision past goalkeeper Rochet .

INTENSE PRESSURE AND EFFICIENCY
