In a frank dialogue, Arrascaeta highlighted the difficulty he would face in implementing this change at this point in his career. At 29 years of age, the player recognized the financial obstacles and the high termination clause in his contract with Flamengo as factors that make the process complex. He highlighted the importance of joining a prestigious team in Europe, reiterating his commitment to clubs that have significant competitive ambitions.

“Look, what can I tell you, nowadays, at the age I am already? I have, it is very difficult for a highly prestigious team in Europe to be able to invest. Because leaving Flamengo is difficult, the clause is high”, said the player. However, Arrascaeta made it clear that he would not consider a move to a European team that is not among the main competitors on the continent.

SHIRT 14 OPENS THE HEART

His priority is to continue competing for titles and participating in high-level competitions, something he has consistently achieved at Flamengo. “So, going to a team that perhaps in Europe doesn't fight for important things doesn't motivate me much. What I've always decided is to be with Flamengo fighting for important things. Obviously doors never close, but it's a little more difficult at this point in my career”, pondered the midfielder.

When analyzing his career at Flamengo, Arrascaeta expressed satisfaction for the years he spent at the club and the titles won. Since his arrival in 2019, the player has accumulated 11 trophies, demonstrating his fundamental role in the team and his contribution to the team's successes.

“In America with Flamengo, I am always competing for important things. Apart from 2023, we won every year. We won prestigious championships. I have a contract until 2026 and I'm fine. Every year I participated and helped the team. This makes me very happy”, concluded the Flamengo idol.

Speculated as a possible reinforcement of Flamengo to fill the gap left by Pedro, striker Anthony Martial is free on the market, but has not played since December 9, 2023. On that occasion, Manchester United, his former club, entered the field to face Bournemouth and lost 3-0 in the Premier League. Martial was a starter and played for 56 minutes.

At the beginning of the year, the French striker suffered a groin injury that required surgery. Therefore, he was away for around 42 days, only returning in March. Even though there were three months left on his contract, Manchester United chose to let go of the player. Since then, Martial has been evaluating his next club and Flamengo is paying attention to his movements.

Just like Flamengo, Anthony Martial suffered from injuries in 2023/24. The star had several physical problems that kept him away from the field for a total of 60 days. Due to muscle pain, the player was not available for United in 12 matches last season.

Status of the deal between Flamengo and Anthony Martial

If the If Flamengo is really interested in the Frenchman, they will have to race against time and agree on the signing by Monday (9). Registration for free players is closing. According to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, who works at the Gianluca Dimarzio portal, the deal could come to fruition soon.

Offered to Flamengo by his staff, Martial also had a drop in his personal numbers. In the 2022/23 season, the player scored six goals and provided two assists in the Premier League. In 2023/24, it was just one goal and no pass that resulted in the ball in the opponents' net.

With the medical department currently full, Flamengo tries to empty it by half during the FIFA Data. One has already gone: Léo Pereira. Recovered from a sprain in his left knee, the defender has already trained normally with the group this Friday and is once again available to Tite.

But the club is also rushing to give the coach three more options in the game against Bahia in the next Thursday, at 9:45 pm (GMT) at Maracanã, qualifying for a place in the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil. Gabigol, Arrascaeta and De la Cruz are not yet training with the ball, but they have a chance of returning in time.

Gabigol is the one who has been out the longest: he injured his right thigh on August 15, in 2-0 victory over Bolívar at Maracanã, and has been undergoing treatment ever since. Three days later, it was Arrascaeta's turn to feel a problem in his left thigh in the 4-1 defeat suffered against Botafogo at Nilton Santos. And De la Cruz injured his right thigh on the 28th, in the 1-0 win over Bahia at Fonte Nova.

De la Cruz's injury was light and has a recovery period of two to three weeks. Against Bahia next Thursday, there will be exactly two weeks of treatment. The expectation is that the three will return to training with the ball in the coming days and will be reinstated to the squad at the beginning of next week.
