The Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) model has become popular in Brazil in recent years, but this idea does not find support in Flamengo. Ricardo Lomba, new president of the club's Deliberative Council (CoDe), made it clear that the topic is out of the question.
“This subject at Flamengo is already in the 'black book' (expression in English for something that people don't want it to come to light anymore), nobody wants to even look at it anymore. Even those who loved it, in the recent past, no longer want to know. I don't think SAF. But I believe that we have to study the SAF, know about it and get to know it, even to protect ourselves”, stated Ricardo Lomba.
The leader reinforced that, despite the Flamengo does not consider adopting the model, understanding the dynamics of the SAF is fundamentalto protect the club from possible future impacts:
“I'm not afraid of SAF anymore, because Flamengo, under no hypothesis, she would avenge. Even so, I think we have to debate the topic, learn more about it and put it in the statute so that this never happens”, said the president of CoDe.
Landim and SAF
Unlike Ricardo Lomba, former president Rodolfo Landim even considered SAF as a possibility for Flamengo. Landim saw the management model as a way to enable the construction of the club's new stadium, although he believed that Mengão could bear the costs on its own. For him, SAF would prevent Flamengo from increasing its debt.
Ricardo Lomba in charge of CoDe
Ricardo Lomba was elected president of the Flamengo Deliberative Council on December 16, 2024. With expected term for the 2025-2027 triennium, he beat Álvaro Ferreira by a wide margin: 943 votes to 171.
Functions of the President of the Deliberative Council
Over the next three years, Lomba will be responsible for:
Evaluate Flamengo's annual balance sheet;
Ensure compliance with the approved budget;
Promote votes on sponsorship contracts, uniforms and other strategic issues;
Supervise changes to the club's statutes.
With this management, Flamengo continues to invest in an administration model that does not include SAF, reaffirming the independence of its financial and organizational structure.

Officially unveiled this Monday wearing the number 15 jersey, Jorge Carrascal arrived at the club with high expectations. Coming from Dynamo Moscow, the Colombian was considered a potential replacement for Arrascaeta , but he refuted the idea of a rivalry with the Uruguayan, a regular starter since 2019. In his first interview, Carrascal emphasized the importance of teamwork.
" It's not about competition, that I will be his replacement , that I will not be his replacement. I came to Flamengo with the purpose of working, of competing, of trying to achieve the best for the club, the clear objectives that it has in the short term this season," the player declared.
Besides rejecting any kind of competition for position, Carrascal praised his teammate's quality. " Arrascaeta has a unique game. He's a great player. We've known Arrascaeta for many years, based on his abilities. He's a different player," he stated.
Carrascal wants to show his versatility at Flamengo: "Position is not a problem"
Demonstrating commitment, the midfielder also highlighted his tactical versatility, showing a willingness to play in different areas of the field, depending on the coach's needs. " I really enjoy moving around the field , I try to make whatever the coach asks of me work. In the middle, on the outside, as a number eight. Position isn't a problem. I'll try to do my best," he added.
Carrascal hasn't played an official match since May 24th, when he left the Russian club. However, the athlete stated that he maintained his physical preparation during the vacation period. Flamengo 's staff also expresses confidence in his athletic condition, which should accelerate his integration into the main squad in upcoming matches.

Expecting a large crowd at Maracanã, Flamengo is banking on the strength of the nation to remain firmly in the fight for the top spots in the Brasileirão. Mengão leads the championship with 37 points.
Even with Mengão's desire to repatriate the midfielder, the player is showing signs that he intends to stay in Europe, while West Ham is stipulating a millionaire value.

To cap off a busy transfer window led by José Boto, Flamengo is still dreaming of the return of Lucas Paquetá. A product of the club's youth academy, the player has a strong connection with the club, which is seeking to emotionally connect him with a potential return to Rio de Janeiro.
However, the path to this goal isn't straightforward. Lucas Paquetá remains highly valued in European football, and his name was recently linked with a potential trade deal involving Jack Grealish , which would see the Brazilian join Pep Guardiola's Manchester City squad. The deal, while uncertain, demonstrates how highly regarded the player remains on the Old Continent.
On Monday (4), new information emerged about Paquetá's position . According to international media outlets, the player, recently cleared of charges of involvement in sports betting manipulation, is determined to prioritize staying in Europe.
Lucas Paquetá is currently linked to West Ham , where he plays regularly. Despite interest from several clubs around the world, the English team is cautious and is only willing to sell him if a minimum offer of €60 million is reached, which is equivalent to approximately R$382.1 million at the current exchange rate.
The athlete's stance represents a disappointment for Flamengo 's plans, which saw Paquetá as the perfect signing to round out the squad led by Filipe Luís. Despite this, the Rio de Janeiro club continues to monitor the situation and maintains hopes , albeit remote, of facilitating the 27-year-old's return to Brazilian football.
