Flamengo's departure to Brasília was a surprise at Galeão International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro. The former president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, 'shaked' one of the venue's entrances and arranged for the red-black delegation to go to the federal capital for the Brasileirão game against Criciúma.
Dilma's arrival to Rio de Janeiro was accompanied by reinforced security. A series of police and private security cars filled the hall of the airport's Noble Hall. The disembarkation of the former president, who presided over Brazil between 2011 and 2016, took place moments before the arrival of the red-black delegation.
After the disembarkation of Dilma Rousseff, the Flamengo bus arrived at the location to start the boarding. The players and the rest of the Flamengo staff carried out the travel procedure smoothly, with the exception of Bruno Spindel. Flamengo's executive director had to get out of his private car in the parking lot next to the Salão Nobre, unlike on other days, when he stops at the door of the venue. The change occurred due to the large number of security cars at the entrance.
Flamengo and Criciúma face each other this Saturday (20), starting at 4pm (Brasília time), at the Mané Garrincha Stadium, in Brasília, for the 18th round of the Brasileirão. The match is crucial for Flamengo's aspirations in the competition, which is currently seeking to regain the top positions in the table.
The presence of Dilma Rousseff and the reinforced security scheme were an unexpected element in the embarkation of the Flamengo delegation, but did not affect the team's preparations for the important clash against Criciúma.
Flamengo postpones the renewal of the number 1 until 2026, but intends to extend the goalkeeper's contract until 2028; the Argentine is in great form and seeks naturalization

Agustín Rossi remains one of the main figures in Flamengo's squad, but talks about a contract renewal are only expected to take place in 2026. The Flamengo board decided to postpone the negotiations, as the goalkeeper's current contract is valid until December 2027 , allowing for more relaxed planning for both parties.
Meanwhile, the Rio de Janeiro club has supported the athlete's naturalization process, as he seeks Brazilian citizenship. The board believes this step could make Rossi's personal life easier and contribute to roster planning , especially regarding the number of foreign players available.
At 30 years old, Rossi is considered a key player in Filipe Luís's team. In recent weeks, the Argentine goalkeeper has had standout performances, saving three penalties in Libertadores and Brasileirão matches. His performances have reinforced the confidence of the coach and the fans, solidifying him as one of the team's leaders.
Even though Flamengo is in no rush to renew, it is already planning to offer a salary increase and extend the contract until 2028. Internally, the good relationship between the player and the club is seen as essential for a future agreement without major impasses.
Flamengo will return to action on October 15th, after the FIFA World Cup break, in a derby against Botafogo in the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship. The match is scheduled for 7:30 pm (Brasília time) at Nilton Santos Stadium. The squad will have Monday off before resuming training.
Even after rumors that negotiations had been affected by the latest results, Mais Querido confirms progress in talks with the coach

The Gazeta do Urubu website spoke with a source close to Flamengo about rumors that negotiations for Filipe Luís's contract renewal have been halted following the team's recent results. The response, however, was blunt: " No. His renewal is very advanced, close to completion ."
The coach's contract is expected to be extended until the end of 2027 , reinforcing the board's confidence in his work. Furthermore, the former player will receive a significant salary increase, as his salary is still that of an 'interim coach.'
Since taking over as Flamengo 's coach, Filipe Luís has already won three important titles: the Copa do Brasil in 2024, as well as the Supercopa do Brasil and the Campeonato Carioca in 2025. Rubro-Negro is also still in the fight for more trophies this season , leading the Brasileirão for a good part of it and qualified for the Libertadores semi-finals.
One of Filipe Luís's most memorable moments was the victory over Corinthians in the 2024 Copa do Brasil, when he managed to reorganize the team after a player was sent off in the first half , guaranteeing qualification with precise adjustments in defense.
Flamengo will not return to action until October 15th, after the FIFA World Cup break, when they will face Botafogo in the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship. The derby is scheduled for 7:30 pm (Brasília time) at Nilton Santos Stadium, known as Engenhão. The squad is expected to have Monday off before returning to training.
