Lucas Paquetá or Vinícius Júnior? The battle for the title of 'Best Brazilian Today' was started by internet users on social media this Thursday (05) between the two players. The Crias do Ninho are currently in Europe, playing, respectively, for West Ham (ING) and Real Madrid (ESP).

It all started after the English club Paquetá's game yesterday (05). West Ham faced Freiburg (ALE) in the second round of Group A of the Europa League. The victory came 2-1 in Germany, and the first goal went to the Brazilian. The former Flamengo hit the opponent's net with a beautiful and impressive header.

But Lucas's show yesterday wasn't exclusive. So far in the season (2023/2024), Paquetá's performance has attracted a lot of attention. In fact, there are rumors that Manchester City (ING) is looking to make a purchase proposal for him to join the club in January of next year.

This has caused many to compare Paquetá with Vinícius Júnior. The Real Madrid (ESP) number 7 was for a long time the best Brazilian in Europe, without any doubt. However, he recently suffered an injury to his right biceps femoris muscle, which left him sidelined.

Vini is now back on the field, but it may be difficult to reach the milestones that Paquetá has achieved so far. According to the statistical data portal Sofascore Brazil, West Ham's number 10 is in first place in several categories, when compared to other Brazilians. Check it out:

Last Tuesday, the candidate for re-election for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, denied the journalist Ancelmo Gois, from Globo. In a post on Instagram, the mayor informed that the city hall will be responsible for removing the megastructure on the gas meter site, different from what was reported. Furthermore, he guaranteed that Flamengo will have its new stadium, with the best conditions and security.

The news published by Ancelmo informs that Flamengo would have to pay R$100 million to remove a large gas structure present on land acquired by the club, which is owned by CEG and CEG-Rio, which are companies that are part of the gas concessionaire Naturgy.

According to the article, the companies were informed that Flamengo is the responsible for bearing the expenses, as provided for in one of the annexes to the land purchase and transfer contract. The clause, however, does not have a specified limit.

Eduardo Paes guarantees that the removal is the responsibility of Rio's city hall.

Paes stated that the values for the transfer of the structure are different from what was pointed out in the article by Ancelmo Gois. Furthermore, it exempted Flamengo from any responsibility, and that the city hall has been planning to remove it for years.

“They are making me defend @flamengo more than I would like: let it be clear that this is not the The cost of this transfer and when it happens will be the responsibility of the city of Rio, which knows that this structure cannot be in an area that is already receiving so many residential buildings. It's been in our plans for a long time! Flamengo will have its new stadium there in the gasometer with all the quality and safety that the region demands and deserves. Period!”, published the mayor.

João Gomes and Lucas Paquetá, two players trained in the youth categories of Flamengo, are currently integrated into the Brazilian National Team. Both athletes, known as "Crias do Ninho", have stood out in their respective trajectories in Europe, and now train together under the command of the national team's technical committee.

João Gomes, who acts as midfielder , is one of the promises that emerged at Flamengo and today defends Wolverhampton Wanderers, popularly known as Wolves, in the Premier League. Since his arrival in England, João Gomes has shown constant evolution, both technically and tactically, gaining space in the squad and the trust of coach Gary O'Neil. His marking ability, intensity on the field and reading of the game were characteristics that caught the attention of the Brazilian National Team's technical committee, resulting in his call-up.

THE CLUB HAS PASSAGES FOR THE SELECTION

Lucas Paquetá, in turn, already has a more established career in European football. After leaving Flamengo, he spent time at Milan, where he had a complicated adaptation, but soon found his football again at Lyon, in France. Currently, Paquetá is one of the main players at West Ham United, also in the Premier League, where he has established himself as the team's number 10. His creative style of play, ability to organize the midfield and skill in decisive plays made him a key player in both his club and the Brazilian national team.

Paquetá's call-up to the national team, where he also wearing the number 10 shirt, reinforces his importance in coach Fernando Diniz's scheme. Paquetá has been one of the most used players in Brazil's recent matches, and his presence on the field has been fundamental to the team's offensive construction. His rapport with other players in the team, especially with Neymar, is one of the strengths that the coaching staff intends to explore during the next games.
