Flamengo advances in negotiations to renew Arrascaeta's contract until the end of his career

Flamengo is attentive to market opportunities and continues to seek reinforcements. In the meantime, the red and black board agreed to sign center forward Carlinhos, from Nova Iguaçu. For the 27-year-old player, the red-black club paid 600 thousand euros (around R$3.2 million at current prices).
The striker had a contract until October 2025 with Nova Iguaçu. However, the Baixada Fluminense club agreed to negotiate the player. Thus, Carlinhos signs with Flamengo for three seasons, that is, until 2027.
INVESTMENTS IN THE SEASON
In the current season, in addition to the recent one < a href="https://gazetadourubu.com/noticia/de-olho-no-rival-president-do-nova-iguacu-indica-venda-de-jante-para-o-internacional" target="_blank"> signing Carlinhos, Flamengo has already invested R$160 million in the first transfer window. Thus, Mengão brought Nicolas De La Cruz, full-back Matías Viña and defender Léo Ortíz to join the red-and-black squad.
BRAZ TALKS ABOUT HIRING
Vice-president of football at Flamengo, Marcos Braz spoke about the new signing. In an interview before the first game of the Carioca Championship final, the director revealed that Mengão had already been keeping an eye on the striker.
— We had been monitoring him for over a month. We could use the political correctness of waiting for the championship to pass. But this put the signing at risk because there were other clubs after the player -, he began.

Carlinhos is one of the main highlights of the Carioca Championship. An idol among Flamengo fans for his historic work between 2019 and 2020, Jorge Jesus still dreams of returning to manage Flamengo . This information was revealed by Kleber Leite, the club's former president and a personal friend of the coach. According to him, the coach would accept an offer to return to the club.
In an interview with Canal Mundo GV, hosted by former goalkeeper Getúlio Vargas, Kleber revealed that Jorge Jesus was very close to re-signing Flamengo in 2021, following Renato Gaúcho's departure. At the time, Flamengo's board traveled to Portugal to negotiate directly with the coach . A meeting was even held, but after asking for time to decide, Jesus decided to sign Paulo Sousa.
"He could have been at Flamengo a long time ago. (...) You know that story about you running to avoid getting there? Flamengo ran to avoid getting there. They didn't want to, actually, that's it. (...) I have no doubt that Jesus would accept an offer from Flamengo . Here or even with the Brazilian national team, where they also lost their chance.
