Flamengo visited Botafogo this Sunday night for the Brazilian Championship. The team led by Tite, who came to the field all "patched up", due to injuries and suspensions, had the objective of winning to overtake their rival and defeat the then leader, Fortaleza. However, against a complete Botafogo and playing at home, the red and black team were defeated by a score of 4-1 and may have even lost midfielder Arrascaeta for the Libertadores game against Bolívar, who left in pain in the first half.
Summary
With their maximum strength, Botafogo started the game with everything and opened the scoring after just two minutes, with Mateo Ponte on the aerial ball. And he continued to press and pose danger from submissions from Marlon Freitas and Gregore. Flamengo, in addition to starting the game behind the scoreboard, also lost Arrascaeta injured two minutes later. But Rubro-Negro, even badly, found the draw in a ball from Léo Ortiz to Bruno Henrique, who touched John's exit at 23. And then the team started to get into the game: Ayrton Lucas almost scored the second with a bomb in the net from the outside, and Carlinhos missed a great chance in the area with a shot over the crossbar. Alvinegro, who even had a goal disallowed by Igor Jesus due to Gregore's offside.
The second stage started similar to the first, including having an early goal. That's because at 8 minutes, Botafogo was back in front. Mateo Ponte finds Almada free on the left, he invades the area and hits. The ball deflects off Ortiz, David Luiz, Fabrício Bruno and it's clear for Igor Jesus to shoot in the middle of the confusion: 2 to 1 Botafogo!
Afterwards, in the 20th minute, Botafogo had the chance to increase the scoreboard. After a penalty committed by Ayrton Lucas, Almada takes a bad shot, Rossi hits the corner and takes it. On the rebound, Savarino shoots out. With that, Flamengo gained momentum and went up trying to score a draw, even without much quality, but with a lot of desire. However, it was Botafogo who scored again in the 38th minute.
Savarino receives a ball from Tchê Tchê on the right, crosses and finds Matheus Martins completely free. He just hits the net, and Botafogo kills the game: 3 to 1! In this sense, the black and white team still had time to do one more, also with Matheus Martins and finish the terrible red-black match by 4x1.
And now?
With the result, the Flamengo remains with 41 points, five less than leader Botafogo, with 46. Rubro-negro now needs to turn the key to the Libertadores da América. This is because there is a decisive game at altitude against Bolívar, for a place in the quarter-finals. In the first match, Tite's men won 2-0 at Maracanã and have the advantage of losing by up to a goal difference to pass. For the Brasileirão, Fla will only return to the field next Sunday, at 4pm, against Bragantino, at Maracanã.

Flamengo said goodbye to the Women's Copa do Brasil this Wednesday (17), after a 1-0 defeat to São Paulo, in the quarterfinals of the tournament. After the final whistle, striker Cristiane spoke out and made harsh criticisms of the refereeing.
Flamengo's Cristiane, after elimination from the Copa do Brasil: "It was biased refereeing"
"Everyone saw today's match , no need to even talk about it. The refereeing was biased, and it also went wrong in São Paulo's favor. But when the refereeing ends up deciding the match, it gets complicated . I don't know the choices made for a game as big as this, Flamengo vs. São Paulo," the player declared.
She continued: " Unfortunately, today had a big impact on us . We've made significant progress compared to the beginning of the year, that's clear. But when the refereeing has a direct impact, it gets difficult," Cristiane concluded.
The first half of the derby was evenly matched. São Paulo started better, but after 20 minutes, Flamengo began to control possession. Even so, neither team managed to score before halftime . In the second half, the São Paulo team came back with more intensity and capitalized on a defensive lapse. Duda Serrana appeared unmarked to score the winning goal and secure the tricolor's place in the semifinals.
After being eliminated from the Copa do Brasil, the Meninas da Gávea return to the field this Saturday (20), for their debut in the Campeonato Carioca, against Búzios, at 3 pm (Brasília time). Flamengo is the current state champion and holds the hegemony in women's football in Rio , with eight titles won so far.
