Flamengo signed Matias Viña for the 2024 season last week, after weeks of negotiations and even evaluating other players for the position. Despite contact from Flamengo, Wendell showed no interest in returning to Brazilian football at this time. The 30-year-old player is in his third season at Porto and has a contract until June 2025.
