As usual, Flamengo, Millonarios, is much inferior on paper. The foreign team comes to Maracanã at 9pm (Brasília time) on Tuesday (28th) already eliminated from the Copa Libertadores, without even fighting for third place, thinking about the South American Championship. But for Mengão, life and qualification for the round of 16 are worth it. Money never enters the field, but it is always interesting to understand the difference in squads based on investment.

The Millonarios team has a squad valued at 26.8 million euros, that is, R$150 million. Flamengo, on the other hand, 165.5 million euros, around R$929.1 million. Value very close to R$ 1 billion. The disparity is already huge in this comparison, since Rubro-Negro has a team more than six times more expensive.

But another interesting approach is the comparison of Millonarios' most valuable player with Mengão's squad. Goalkeeper André Montero and defender Andrés Llinás are worth the same: 2.6 million euros, just R$14.5 million. This is cheaper than at least 20 Flamengo players.

In other words, Flamengo has almost two teams of players more valuable than the most expensive athlete on the Bogotá team. Transfermarkt values show that the closest to the amount are Lorran, Matheus Gonçalves, Matheus Cunha and Fabrício Bruno, all costing 3 million euros. In other words, R$ 16.8 million.

Pedro is eight times more valuable than André Montero and Andrés Llinás

Flamengo's most valuable player is striker Pedro, with 22 million euros. In other words, R$ 123.4 million. With Millonarios' two most valuable players costing R$14.5 million, Pedro is worth eight times more than the Colombians.

In fact, Pedro alone is very close to the entire opponent's squad. Above André Montero and Llinás, Flamengo still has several more expensive players: Wesley, Luiz Araújo, Victor Hugo, Pulgar, Allan, Rossi, Léo Ortiz, Léo Pereira, Viña, Ayrton Lucas, Gabigol, Everton Cebolinha, Gerson and Arrascaeta, in addition to those already mentioned.

Flamengo drew 1-1 with Cuiabá on Saturday night (6), at Maracanã, in a match valid for the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship. Despite the unexpected result, Rubro-Negro secured the lead in the competition until the end of the round. After the game, coach Tite analyzed the team's performance.

Flamengo was behind on the scoreboard, but pressed throughout the game, managing to equalize with a goal from Pedro. However, the team was unable to break through Cuiabá's defensive block to turn the match around. A highlight of the second half was the replacement of Werton and Lorran with Carlinhos and Matheus Gonçalves, something that Tite explained after the game.

TITE'S EXPLANATION< /b>

Coach Tite highlighted the performance of goalkeeper Walter, from Cuiabá, as fundamental to the draw. “Walter had a great game, I think there were 11 shots on goal. In a volume created, with a series of adversities, I will not talk about the calendar, I have already said it and I do not want to be repetitive. We had the search until the final moment. The game presented itself, we tried to use two pivots, we replaced the boys to create the alternatives we needed and here is the support for the boys, Lorran and Werton”, analyzed Tite.

GAME STRATEGY

Tite sought greater coordination in midfield, using Gerson and Lorran as play creators. “I wanted to work on the projection. I looked for an articulating player to give more volume. As I have Lorran together with Gerson, who are two articulators, they look for each other, the idea was to have them. Then, we put together a strategy to pierce their middle and lower block (Cuiabá). We had to make the movement in the last third”, he explained.

DIFFICULTIES FACED

Tite also highlighted the difficulties faced due to the tight schedule, which hampered the team's preparation. “It’s difficult not to talk about the calendar issue. We analyze the opponent and there is no way to train for this game. You put it on video and try to make sure things arrive on time. It was the third game in a row in less than 72 hours. We weren't able to maintain the regularity to put ourselves in front of the goal, to have a cleaner finish. We have to recognize that, on the other side, Walter was on a bright day”, added the coach.

NEXT CHALLENGES

With the draw, Flamengo reached 31 points, maintaining the isolated lead of the Brasileirão. Next Thursday (10), the team returns to Maracanã to face Fortaleza, at 8pm. Cuiabá, in turn, reached 14 points and occupies 15th place in the table.
