Countdown to the opening of the mid-year transfer window. With an eye on reinforcements on the market, Flamengo has Michael, from Al Hilal (SAU), in its sights. However, the club gained a competitor in Brazil: Cruzeiro.

Cruzeiro's board and Michael's staff met recently to discuss the purchase of Matheus Pereira , who is on loan from Al-Hilal (SAU) to the Minas Gerais club. It is worth noting that both players are represented by the company Dut’s Mkt. Thus, the Belo Horizonte club also talked about Michael in the conversation and even showed interest in the negotiation. The information comes from journalist Raisa Simplício.

At the Arab club since January 2022, the 28-year-old striker could be traded in the next transfer window. This is because Al Hilal intends to get rid of some foreign players, aiming to make room for new signings. It is worth mentioning that the limit is eight ‘non-Saudi’ athletes. Therefore, the management of the Riyadh team sees Michael as a 'negotiable piece' in June.

Michael has a contract until June 30 2025 with Al Hilal. In other words, there is one more season left until the end of the contract. This way, the striker can sign a pre-contract with any other team from January of next year. Taking into account the possibility of losing the athlete, the Saudi club can still earn an amount if it negotiates the right winger in 2024.

Sold by Flamengo to Al- Hilal for 8.45 million dollars (R$ 45.5 million) for 80% of the economic rights (another 20% were from Goiás), the attacker has a 'pact' with the former club. Counting on a good relationship with Rubro-Negro, Michael 'promised' to vice-president Marcos Braz that he would give preference to the Rio team in a possible return to Brazilian football.

Any player his size would be welcome here. Neymar has a long contract where he is. I think it's crazy to think about this signing at this moment. I think it's unfair that we even joke about it. We are very happy with his visit. A happy, contagious guy, and I hope he has a good recovery, returns to play and helps the Brazilian team — said Marcos Braz.

We had control of the game, we took the lead very well, but unfortunately we didn't score a goal - said the player, during a half-time interview.

Cruzeiro has ongoing negotiations to repatriate Michael. On vacation, the Al-Hilal striker is also interested in returning to Brazilian football and, therefore, both parties are confident in the progress of the process. Furthermore, Flamengo monitors the situation.

In principle, the agreement being discussed by Raposa Minas Gerais involves a permanent transfer, that is, without a loan. The player's name has already been fully approved by the Minas Gerais team's technical committee and the club hopes to count on the athlete.

The Saudi club needs to negotiate the Brazilian to open up a foreign position for the next season - in fact, you also need to sign up Neymar, who ended up being cut (due to injury) during the previous season.

At 28 years old, Michael has played for Al-Hilal since 2021, when he was sold by Flamengo. Since then, he has made 108 official appearances and scored 22 goals and 22 assists. It has a contract valid until 2025.
