Flamengo officially announced on Tuesday night (29) the signing of striker Samuel Lino , who arrives as the most expensive reinforcement in the club's history . The player landed in Rio de Janeiro on the same day and, without wasting time, went straight to Ninho do Urubu, where he got to know the CT structure and spoke to Flamengo TV.

During the interview, the former Atlético Madrid player expressed excitement about returning to the club and expressed surprise at the strong interest from the club . Samuel Lino briefly spent time with Flamengo's youth academy between 2017 and 2018 , during which time he was part of the Copinha-winning squad. However, he was eventually released due to lack of playing time. He then excelled at São Bernardo before moving on to European football.
In the 2019/20 season, he was signed by Gil Vicente (POR) and, after a good performance, he was bought by Atlético de Madrid, who loaned him to Valencia in the 2022/23 season . For the Spanish capital club, he played 93 games, with 12 goals and 16 assists.
To sign Samuel Lino, Flamengo paid 22 million euros — around R$143 million —, an amount that makes him the most expensive acquisition in the club's history . The signed contract is valid until December 2029. The player's official presentation will be this Thursday (31), at Maracanã, before the match against Atlético-MG, for the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.
With his match fitness level up after playing in the last Club World Cup and completing preseason training in Europe, Samuel Lino is emerging as the closest signing to making his debut under Filipe Luís. This is because Emerson Royal hasn't played since January, and Saúl Ñíguez was on vacation after his last match in May.
