The journalist Diogo Dantas, from Globo, published in the debut of his new blog this Tuesday (28), the information that members of Flamengo's board linked to Landim are planning to sell Gabigol before he can sign a pre-contract with another club in July.

To this end, according to the journalist, they began a “frying” process that included leaking news about the player's dissatisfaction with the reserve and alleged acts of insubordination. The objective would be to convince the fans of the decision to sell the player.

Recently, the fans showed that they were on Gabigol's side in the cold war with the board by booing Pedro and applauding the number 10 in a substitution at Maracanã, But the board is trying to change this scenario. To this end, information leaks such as the scolding that Tite allegedly gave Gabigol for complaining about not entering the match against Boavista to take a penalty that Pedro ended up wasting.

Board of directors fears how the sale of Gabigol would affect elections in the club

The concern of Landim's allies is how the loss of the club's greatest idol in recent years to a rival could affect the electoral process for the election of Rodolfo Landim's successor in December this year. Despite this, one of the options is to sell Gabigol to Corinthians.

Gabigol's contract runs until December this year. If he does not renew by the end of June, he will be able to sign a pre-contract with any other club to transfer in January without any financial compensation to Flamengo.

In addition to the sporting loss, this would mean a huge financial loss for o Flamengo, which invested 16 million euros in purchasing the striker's federative rights in 2020, one of the most expensive purchases in the club's history.

Therefore, if the negotiation for renewal, which has been on hold for months, continues without progress, the board thinks that the sale of Gabigol, even to a rival, is the best solution. And he works to convince the fans – and the members – of this.
