The board of CBF is still analyzing the possibility of changing the date of the Copa do Brasil semi-final between Flamengo and Corinthians . There was a request for change by the red-black club made directly to the confederation board, but the black and white association is against it, as stated in a note.

The second game of the semi-final is scheduled for October 17th, two days after the World Cup qualifying game. In other words, the teams would have their national team players worn out or not even be able to use them. Flamengo's proposal is to change the date of the semi-final from the 17th to the weekend, bringing forward the matches of the Brazilian round.

The CBF understands that, yes, it is important to try to ensure that the teams have their best players in the Brazilian Cup. The argument is that the entity has valued competition in recent years. So much so that there was a rejection by the CBF when Flamengo asked to include dates for the Brazilian Cup in the Copa América. Therefore, the entity does not rule out making the change.

But there is one issue that interferes with the decision: Corinthians' game in the semi-finals of the Copa Sudamericana the following week. Corinthians is qualified for this game, which could be on Tuesday (10/22) or Thursday (10/24). This depends on Conmebol defining the exact date.

If the South American game takes place on Tuesday, it will be more difficult to move the Copa do Brasil semifinal match to the weekend. Corinthians' recovery period would be shorter. By rejecting the change, Corinthians claimed that they compete in three competitions and that changes would hinder their preparation.

In this equation, SBT also enters, which has the rights to the Sul-Americana. The broadcaster, in general, has been broadcasting on Tuesdays and the Corinthians game will certainly be chosen. SBT would have to be flexible and broadcast a game on Thursday. The CBF's forecast is to decide whether to change or maintain the second semi-final in the coming days.

Flamengo has Penarol's game as one of the most important in Tite's stay

The confrontation between Flamengo Peñarol for the Libertadores is decisive not only for the club's future in the competition, but also for coach Tite. The match became a kind of “early end” for the coach, who sees his stay in charge of the team threatened. Although the red and black board has chosen to support the coach and does not intend to fire him before the quarter-finals, an elimination tonight, combined with inconsistent performance in the Brazilian Championship, could change the scenario.

The expectation of evolution under Tite's command was high. Hired to give the team a new direction, the coach arrived surrounded by hopes of improvement, especially in a squad as qualified as Flamengo's. However, the results in the Brasileirão so far are below expectations, leaving the team far from fighting for the title and increasing the pressure on the coach. If there is no progress in the Libertadores, it will be difficult to justify the continuation of work that has not reached the goals initially set. FLAMENGO HAS A DEFINED POINT OF VIEW

The Flamengo de Tite has fluctuated in the Brasileirão. Despite having a strong squad, the team has difficulty imposing itself against theoretically weaker opponents and is unable to present regularity. The low performance has been a cause for concern within the club and is also the target of criticism from the fans. The lack of solid and consistent results has placed the team in an uncomfortable position in the table and increased questions about the coach's work.

This situation in the national championship contrasts with initial expectations. When Tite was hired, the idea was that he would bring greater stability to the team, especially in defensive terms. However, this improvement was not seen, and the team continues to suffer from recurring failures in defense, in addition to creation problems in the midfield. With Rubro-Negro far from the fight for the title and even the classification zone for the Libertadores next year, the risk of not achieving the planned objectives is real, and the responsibility lies with the technical command.

In an event held at the headquarters of Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), this Friday (20), the field commands for the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil were defined. Thus, it was determined that Flamengo will face Corinthians, with the first game at Maracanã and the return game in São Paulo.

As determined by the draw, first, Flamengo will play at home, possibly on the day October 2nd. The return match, led by Corinthians, is scheduled to take place on the 17th of the same month. The clash times will still be announced and confirmed by the CBF.

Fla looking for another final, second in a row

In the 2023 season, Flamengo reached the final of the Copa do Brasil. However, Mais Querido, led by Jorge Sampaoli, lost to São Paulo 1-0 at Maracanã, while at Morumbi they drew 1-1. For this reason, Rubro-Negro finished runners-up, and the coach Argentine left the Rio team.

Prizes

Teams that qualify for the final of this year's Copa do Brasil will be awarded with an amount of at least R $31.5 million. This is because the runner-up receives the amount mentioned above, while the champion earns R$73.5 million. Furthermore, as in previous editions, the qualified goal, that is, scored away from home, will not be used as a tiebreaker. Therefore, if there is a tie on the aggregate score, the decision goes to penalties.

GRÊMIO Flamengo is preparing for a game against Grêmio, in the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship. The match takes place on Sunday (22), at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), in Rio Grande do Sul.
