FLAMENGO COACH, GUSTAVO DE CONTI IS FIRED FROM THE BRAZILIAN BASKETBALL TEAM

Last Wednesday (17), the Brazilian Basketball Confederation announced on its social networks the dismissal of coach Gustavo de Conti. Flamengo's coach had held two positions since September 2021.

Along with Gustavo, the technical director of the men's teams, Diego Jeleilate, also left. In his place comes Victor Mansure, who was national team manager. The CBB promised to announce a new coach for the men's team soon. Remembering that there are only 70 days left for Brazil to play the pre-Olympics in Riga, the last chance to get a place in Paris.

GUSTAVO DE CONTI'S PASS IN THE SELECTION

Gustavo de Conti won a silver medal in the Men's Basketball Team at Amricup 2022 and a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Santiago in 2023. However, his passage was marked by the team's poor performance in the World Cup of Basketball, in 2023.

Canada won the second place for Paris and forced Brazil to play the pre-Olympics, where the chances of qualifying are quite remote. There are only four places for 24 teams. The Brazilian team initially plays against Montenegro and Cameroon. In case of classification, they will face Latvia, Georgia or the Philippines in the decision for the Olympic place.

With Gustavo de Conti dismissed from the Brazilian team , Flamengo will not need to worry about the coach sharing the spotlight. Now, Mais Querido will be able to count on the coach fully to focus on competing for titles.
